Pastor Peace AKINGUNSOYE is the Senior Pastor of Calvary Freedom Apostolic Ministry. He is an Evangelist, a preacher, and a prolific writer who has up to 9 books to his credit.
Since he gave his life to God he has liberated many souls from the bondage of sin through counseling, seasoned messages and deliverance ministrations all over the world.
Prior to the time he became a Pastor, he was a Lecturer and Dean of Students Affairs at Christ Pillar Bible School, Ori-Oke Baba Abiye, Ede Osun State. Presently, he is a facilitator in the school of Deliverance at Christ Livingspring Apostolic Ministry (CLAM).
Pastor Peace is known to be very close to Pastor Wole Oladiyun, the Senior Pastor of the fast-growing church popularly called CLAM and he always interprets for him locally and internationally.
In a chat with City People’s SUNDAY ADIGUN, he spoke exclusively on how his relationship with Pastor Oladiyun, started, how God instructed him to be tutored by Pastor Wole Oladiyun and how he started interpreting for him over 10 years ago.
Who is Pastor Peace Akingunsoye?
Pastor Peace Akingunsoye is the Senior Pastor of Calvary Freedom Apostolic Ministry, situated at No 14 Olaniyi Street, New Oko Oba, Abule Egba.
Tell us about your background.
The little I can say is that, I was born into the family of the late Chief Rufus Akingunsoye. I am the last born of the family. I’m from Ile-Oluji, Ondo State. I had the grace to go to school up to the tertiary level. I went to Federal Polytechnic, Ede. I have a Degree in Theology. These are little things I can say.
How did your Journey into the Ministry start?
Journey into the Ministry starts once you are born again. I had an encounter with God when I was in secondary school, J.S.S 2 to be précise, since then I’ve been serving God (since 1990). I developed myself to be President of my school fellowship. I started my Ministerial Training from there. Virtually every week I preached at the school assembly, and from there, I became a member of C.A.C youth fellowship and one of the youth executives. I served in various capacities; I was Prayer coordinator, Welfare Officer, District Evangelist, Youth Secretary, all these enabled me to go to various places in villages and different branches. As a District Evangelist, I had about 23 branches that I coordinated. Later, I gained admission into Federal Polytechnic, Ede from there, I pastored in Akwa-Ibom State where I served in the year 2002, before I worked as a Minister of God at Ori-Oke Baba Abiye, Ede, in Osun State.
I received training under Pastor Funsho Akande and I also lectured at Christ Pillar Bible School, Ori-Oke Baba Abiye, Ede. I rose to the post of Dean of Student Affairs of the school before God asked me to start a Ministry in Ibadan in 2005, after that, God directed me to CLAM 9 years ago, where I received a higher Ministerial Training; under my father in the Lord, Pastor Wole Oladiyun. In CLAM, I was trained and worked in different departments; like Pregnant Women Fellowship, Deliverance Section, Outreach section called CLAMGO e.t.c. before I was sent forth into the ministry by Pastor Wole Oladiyun. So, It’s a journey of 20 years plus, to the glory of God.
Can you tell us about your relationship with Pastor Wole Oladiyun of CLAM?
Pastor Wole Oladiyun is my father in the Lord. He’s my mentor and my role model. Before I came to CLAM, I had been praying, asking ‘Lord to connect me with somebody who is ahead of me and has the same Kind of Ministry, same Deliverance Ministry, and outreach Ministry, I told Him that I needed a place to acquire more knowledge. And somehow, God arranged it and I found myself under him. I can boldly say that CLAM is my full Training ground. There is no way I will tell the story of my life without mentioning CLAM, because that is where God raised me. So, my relationship with Pastor Wole Oladiyun is a father-to-son relationship.
And he used to call you his international interpreter. What is the reason behind it?
That is very correct! One of the grace God has given me is to interpret for him despite the fact that I run my ministry now. I still go there every Wednesday to interpret for him, and at every Crusade even sometimes when we travel out of the country. I remember 2 years ago when we travelled to Island, he asked me to interpret, for him. My performance that day was so impressive and that was what made me to be his interpreter, at home and abroad. I accompanied him everywhere and he has given me several international platforms too. God has used him to sponsor all my international trips. God has used him to give me international exposure and trained me locally and internationally.
How long have you been interpreting for him?
I’ve been interpreting for him now for over 10 years. That was even before I joined CLAM. I started interpreting for him at a naming ceremony of Pastor Johnson Oriade’s son and since then we’ve been together.
You are also a Crusader-like Pastor Wole, what has been your input in propagating the Gospel like him?
I told you earlier that, God used CLAM; my father in the Lord to train me. Then, I had the partern of CLAM in me. Since childhood, I knew the call upon my life is very strong. I majorly focused on Rural areas. I have covered rural centers within Ondo State, Ogun State and other parts in this country. That is my passion and under my father in the Lord, he has allowed me to travel all over the country for the past 6 years. He has been supporting me in prayers, in kind and in cash. He has really encouraged me to move on. God has also raised me as a leader, in this Church, God is helping us to raise leaders through one of our programmes called Iron Sharpeneth Iron, a fellowship of Ministers. Under this scheme, we have different Ministers coming together for training, counseling and prayers every month. God has also helped me to publish up to 9 books, which are bestselling all over the world.
As one of the voices to reckon with in Christendom today, what is your take on Tithe and Offering?
Let me say this to all the Ministers of God, let us stay focused on our callings. Let us do the work faithfully; we are in the Ministry not because of the things of this world. We are in the Ministry to win souls, to transform lives, and to impact on one another and that should be our main goals and targets. Everybody has his or her opinion. What I know is that, the Church of God will continue to wax stronger and stronger and the gate of hell will not prevail. For somebody who is not a Pastor to criticise what is going on in the Church, it is wrong. That person is dabbling into what doesn’t concern him. For a lawyer, who is not a Pastor to be saying Tithing is wrong, is that his business? Is that what he learnt in school? And for somebody, who is operating like one area father to just wake up one day and start saying all manner of things, to me it’s not an issue to be treated with seriousness. Somebody who is genuinely born again will know that, as a child of God you should give to the work of God, not only Tithe, because Gospel thrives on finances. So to me, for somebody to be condemning the work of God, that shows that the person is not mature enough. It’s just a distraction and I have decided not to be distracted because I have many things to do. So, every minister of God should focus on the Gospel; let’s stand on holiness and avoid distractions.
