- As Expert Call For Effective Branding
The formal unveiling of two new books titled The Winning Organisation and How to Brand Yourself & Your Business, written by Demola Akinbola, a leading expert in branding and corporate reputation management, founder of Brand Stenard Limited, took place last week at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Lagos. The event presented industry practitioners the opportunity to call on individuals, organisations, and governments to focus on effective branding practices with its attendant benefits.
The Winning Organisation is an essential roadmap for CEOs and business leaders who desire new insights on how to build and manage winning brands, especially amidst heightening stakeholder expectations and a more competitive market place. How to Brand Yourself & Your Business is a practical guide for CEOs, entrepreneurs, career managers, and other professionals who take branding seriously, and who are thirsty for knowledge and skills on how to achieve personal and business branding success.
The author disclosed that the desire to share his knowledge and experience on branding and reputation management, acquired over a 20-year period, motivated the publication of the two new books. According to him, “there is the need to continue to educate and re-orientate ourselves on the imperatives of branding and the essential, sacrosanct principles”.
Delivering the keynote address on the Limitless Possibilities of a Branded Brand, Mr Tokunbo Modupe, renowned Public Relations guru and CEO of TPT International, disclosed that the principles of branding are critical to the survival of any brand. If creating, nurturing and projecting are some of the pillars for which branding is achieved, it means that certain tools, skills, activities and investments are very critical to the birth and survival of any brand, he added.
Discussing Mr Modupe’s paper, Mr Femi Awoyemi, CEO of Proshare Nigeria Limited and Mr Emeka Oparah, Director, Corporate Communications & CSR, Airtel Nigeria opined that branding remains a veritable platform for the promotion of the differentiating attributes of personalities, businesses, and nations.
The author worked at various senior management positions before founding Brand Stewards Limited, a brand and reputation management consultancy operating in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. His engagements included stints at British Council Nigeria as Head of Communications & Marketing; Prudent Bank (now Skye Bank) as Pioneer Head of Corporate Affairs; Nigerian Aviation Handling Company PLC (NAHCO), Lagos, as Head of Corporate Communications & Business Development; Owena Bank PLC (later Omega. Bank), as Head, Corporate Affairs, and Northeast College, Drogheda, Republic of Ireland as Marketing Communications Manager.
