On the 23rd May 2018, a candle light procession (Artistes’ Night) was held for the late actress, Aisha Abimbola popularly known Omoge Campus at Blue Roof, LTV 8, Agidigbin, Ikeja.
The actress died of cancer on the 16th of May 2018 in Canada and was buried according to Muslim rite. Before her death she was the first vice president of TGMAN. Saidi Balogun who happens to be the President of TGMAN organized the Artistes Night and the Fidau prayers to honour the late actress with all her immediate family members in attendance, including the husband, and so many actors and actress, musicians to pay their last respect to the late actress, who most of them described as very nice to a fault, friendly and a no nonsense person. Saidi Balogun Plays The Host
Highly respected Nollywood actor and President of TGMAN, put the entire event together to give the actress their last respect. The actor was on his feet throughout the event, making sure everything went on smoothly. He equally gave the opening speech. He stressed more on the video that went viral, concerning a group soliciting for financial help for the burial ceremony of the actress. He stated clearly that the video was mainly for people in Canada and U.S, and whoever desires to help the siblings of the deceased should not hesitate to do that, and also that Lola Alao should not be misquoted, that the late actress was a Nigerian that the burial ceremony only took place in Canada. He made sure the Fidau prayers for the actress went on perfectly well.
Artistes Wore White
The host, Saidi Balogun made white T-Shirt available for artistes for free at the entrance of the venue. Most of the artistes who graced the event were all dressed in all white attire. Saidi Balogun described the late Aisha Abimbola as a very peaceful person, so the choice of white attire was because she was a woman of peace and substance.
Afeeze Ayetoro & Afeez Abiodun WERE MCs
Afeez Ayetoro’s “Simply Saka” and Afeez Abiodun “Owo” were the perfect Master of Ceremony of the Fidau Prayers. These two very talented actor who are known for their good sense of humour, made sure guests were comfortable. Even though they were mourning the actress, they still did what they know how to do best.
Aisha Abimbola’s Husband Was Present
The late actress parted ways with her husband seven years before her death but the union was blessed with two adorable kids. Mr Ibrahim Victor who happens to be Aisha’s ex-husband and father to her kids, was present at the Fidau prayers. He performed his duties as the husband to the late actress, stayed although the event and he equally stated clearly that, he ought to have traveled to stay with his kids but postponed his trip because, he had to stay back and attend the event.
Artistes PAID Tributes To Aisha Abimbola
Different artistes took turns to sing and pay tributes to the late actress. The likes of Hadj Wasiu Sideez, Hadj Ridwan Ridoh, Hadja Jemilah Alagbe, Sulaiman Babatope, Baritide and a host of others.
