Social media has been agog with different types of views and analyses since popular broadcaster and Presenter, Daddy Freeze of Cool FM station opposed the claim of a popular Nigeria Pastor, Bishop David Oyedepo. The man of God gave his view on Marriage and why women need to submit themselves to their husbands. “The only way to a fruitful marriage is total submission on the part of the wife. Until it is in place, every other thing she tries to do will be out of place. A woman who refuses to submit to her husband is disobeying God. As a woman, you might even be a minister of the gospel, and your husband is not, the Word of God still says to submit yourself to him. A submissive woman is precious in the sight of her husband – Ephesians 5:22.
This of course didn’t go well with Daddy Freeze and he in another message, replied the popular Bishop that his assertion was Faulty based on his own Bible quote. According to Daddy Freeze, “Dear Bishop Oyedepo, the submission goes both ways. It’s not reserved for women alone, rather both the husband and wife MUST submit to one another.
The fact that you have been married for 30 years doesn’t necessarily make you an expert on marriage. A prisoner in prison for 30 years is still not an expert on the penitentiary system. Also, the fact that you are single, separated or divorced doesn’t disqualify you from giving marital advice. Paul and Christ gave most of the New Testament advice on marriage and neither was married. Many religious marriages are endured not enjoyed. Many pastors are suffering in silence. Paul wrote all the marriage advice in Colossians and Ephesians and was NEVER married, neither was Christ, who instructed us on marriage and whose cross carries our faith”
This is not the first time Daddy Freeze would come out to voice out and countertop Pastors whenever he feels the message was faulty and lack proper Bible back up. But the last one he did didn’t go down well with some people especially Pastor David Ibiyeomie, who is like a son to Bishop Oyedepo. He came out and lambasts Daddy Freeze in a video that has been criticised by many Nigerians. According to him, (Pastor David Ibiyeomie). “Insult me, I will take it but insulting Oyedepo, that bastard, tell him any day I hear him talk about Oyedepo… Do they know his father? Does Daddy Freeze have a father? Who is his father? That half-caste who was born by a Somalian. The day I will hear him insult Oyedepo again, I will deal with him. Oyedepo may not talk but I can’t be alive you insult my father. Who gave birth to him? If he has a father, let him show us his father’s picture. Somebody dey gives birth to mischief. Does he look like a Nigerian? He is a Somalian.
If I hear him insult my father again, Oyedepo may not talk but I can’t be alive, you insult my father. I curse the day he was born. Insult my father when I am alive, I cannot take it.
“He is a bastard, he is a bastard, does he have a father? Who is his father? Let him show his father’s picture if he has a father. A man who cannot marry, he has no wife. He cannot manage his home and he is coming to talk on television. Is it not his wife that left him? A man who is a broadcaster, does he have a good job? “You have been insulting my father and people are laughing. Oyedepo may not talk but Me ooo. I go just… I will never be alive to see somebody insult my father, you are not born, you are not born. I will kill you, I will tear you to pieces. Me I will arrest him.”
In a Facebook live programme, the popular broadcaster asked his followers to type Daddy Freeze on Google and search what they would see. Some of his followers follow suit and on his Wikipedia page, he has his names, his mother, father, the school he attended and all the other details were available there. So he said he was surprised that a pastor (Pastor Ibiyeomie) could lie about his person, that he was born by a Somalian mother.
He said he was disappointed when a pastor tagged what he does as just mere broadcasting. How much does he have? I have been in broadcasting since age 13.
I’m not a mere broadcaster. Have done that for 25 years. When I worked with OGBC I never saw broadcasting as mere broadcasting before I moved to Cool FM. This was the time I collected a token as salary and I still didn’t see it as mere broadcasting.
Do you know how hard it is to build a following in this job? How can someone call what I do with so much passion mere broadcasting? I have a wonderful job and career. I don’t want to argue that I know how to preach than some people. If anything should happen to me today please hold pastor Ibiyeomie responsible for all the threats he made. I want Nigerians to take note of this.
Ifedayo Olarinde (born 6 May 1976), popularly known as Daddy Freeze, is a Nigerian-Romanian broadcaster and radio talk show host.
Ifedayo Olarinde was born in Cluj-Napoca, Romania to a Nigerian father and a Romanian mother. He spent most of his growing years in Ibadan, Oyo State, where he attended the International School. He has a degree in sociology from the University of Ibadan. Freeze started his radio career in 1996 with the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS), Ibadan and joined Cool FM in 2001 working in radio presenting, television and general entertainment. He is a senior broadcaster at Cool FM Lagos.
He is also an event compere. He has hosted a number of music concerts, comedy shows and Nollywood premieres in Nigeria, Ghana and the United Kingdom.
