Former National Security Adviser, NSA, Col Sambo Dasuki(rtd), on Wednesday failed to testify in the ongoing trial of Olisa Metuh, embattled former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Dasuki’s counsel, Ahmed Raji informed the Abuja Federal High Court that having spent about two years incarcerated, his client needs to have access to some relevant documents before he could testify.
According to Raji, Dasuki needs access to “relevant files, records and documents required to refresh his memory of any decisions or actions he took or authorised in the course of his duties”.
Against this backdrop, the former NSA counsel appealed to the Justice Okon Abang to “tarry a while” in the course of the proceeding pending the determination of Dasuki’s appeal in the case.
Counsel to the former PDP spokesperson, Emeka Etiaba, agreed with Dasuki’s plea.
Etiaba noted that Dasuki needs more time to go through his reports on the case.
The former PDP spokesperson is facing trial before the Justice Abang-led court for allegedly receiving the sum of N400m from the Office of the NSA under the leadership of Dasuki during the build up to the 2015 election.
Metuh had urged the court to issue a subpoena on Dasuki and former President Goodluck Jonathan which was done.
