The National Leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, and former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Tuesday, said former President Olusegun Obasanjo has failed as a leader during his tenure and lacked the credibility to speak for Nigerians on who to vote for in the forthcoming 2019 general elections but cannot stop the incumbent President, Mohamamdu Buhari’s victory..
Obasanjo had recently in statement, asked President Buhari not to seek re-election, citing his “poor performance” in office.
Obasanjo spoke of poverty and insecurity in Nigeria as well as, Buhari’s poor economic management, nepotism and gross dereliction of duty.
He said he would be in the vanguard of a movement to oust Buhari from power if the president would run in the election again.
“The situation that made Nigerians to vote massively to get Jonathan out is playing itself out again,” Obasanjo said, saying that he voted for Buhari because at that time it was a matter of “any option but Jonathan. I will consider no sacrifice too great to make for the good of Nigeria at any time,” he said.
However, Tinubu, also gave credit to Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osuinbajo for his prompt intervention in the wake of invasion of the National Assembly by men of the Department of State Security, saying, Osinbajo saved Nigeria’s democracy from crumbling.
The APC leader, made the remarks, at a stakeholders’ and consultative meeting of APC chieftains, leaders, and members, held at the party’s Secretariat, Acme, Ogba, Lagos State.
