An inside source has revealed to City People that six people including the driver of a BRT bus have been confirmed dead while many are still left injured.
Many were thrown into confusion and a heavy traffic jam took over Ikorodu axis after an auto accident involving a Dangote customised trailer and a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle in Lagos State on Tuesday, August 27, 2019.
The loaded trailer, belonging to the company of Aliko Dangote, reportedly slid off the main carriageway to collide with the bus on the special BRT lane, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA).
The accident happened on Tuesday morning in Majidun Awori along Ikorodu road.
According to LASTMA, injured passengers have been evacuated to the Ikorodu General Hospital and the agency is currently evacuating the vehicles involved in the accident.
While authorities are yet to make any comments over the fatalities, eyewitnesses on the scene reported that some of the passengers on the bus died on the scene.
The driver of the truck has since been at large while medical aids are being administered to the victims. The names and identity of the deceased are yet to be revealed as at the time of filing this report.
