It is no more news that the emergence of Covid-19 otherwise known as coronavirus all over the world has left us with many questions that we’ve not been able to provide answers for. While many believe it came as a result of mistakes and human error, many even think it’s an act to propel war among some nations, yet many prominent men of God are saying God is using covid-19 to pass a message across to human race coupled with the fact that it is so obvious it has a spiritual inclination.
One of the prominent men of God who have come out to air their opinion on this thief that suddenly appeared at night and left us with many scars is Evangelist J.A Adelakun otherwise known as Ayewa. He said it emphatically in a recent City People Tv Instagram live chat with the publisher, SEYE KEHINDE, why God is fighting the whole world with Covid-19 and backed it up with biblical verses. Enjoy the interview.
Let’s start by you sharing with us your thoughts about what is going on in the world and our country Nigeria?
As a man of God, I have to follow the scripture. What is happening in the world today is just the sign of the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though many people may not believe this but as a man of God I believe all that is happening is to prepare us for the second coming of Jesus Christ according to Matt 24 vs 1-7. All that we need is just to repent and prepare for His second coming. What is happening is the hand of God and as signs, telling us to prepare ourselves that he’ll soon be with us.
What are the lessons that our people should learn from all this experience?
A lot of lessons; in the book of Matthew 25 out of 10 virgins 5 of them were foolish while 5 were wise, and what happened? When they were going to meet the bridegroom, they all took their lamb that is already full of oil. 5 of them decided to have extra oil just in case of any eventuality while the second 5 set did not prepare themselves and the bride was unable to come in time. The bible recorded that all of them slept off and when the bridegroom eventually came they were unable to put on the light because there was no oil except for those that have extra oil. Now, talking of the lessons covid-19 has left us with, no1, the wise people will not say because they are in a lockdown they will now stay in one place. The wise people will think about what locked them down and think of steps to take to get out of it. And the first thing is to plan; that after the lockdown where are my heading to? That after the lockdown, what is my vision? But some foolish people will just sit down criticizing the government, abusing the government instead of sitting down and plan.
Do you know that many book publishers will have enough time to write their books now; some may come out of the pandemic with at least 10 books. Some musicians either Gospel or non-gospel will have time to meditate and bring out solid messages to the nation. Some workers will say; after this lockdown, I don’t know what is going to happen to my job, that what if at the end of the day my employer gives me letter to go, what am I going to do? They will now think of whether to go into farming or dry cleaning business. There are lots of lessons for the wise in this lockdown but the foolish will sit down in one place enjoying, sleeping and analyzing. They have no plan for tomorrow. No plan for the future. One thing is very certain all over the world, before any government will balance from this it will take a long time. We have a long way to go and that is why we need to plan then God will surprise us. The government locked you down but they did not pin you down. As long as they did not pin you down then you need to make use of the opportunities that comes with it. Another lesson is the bond I share with my family, I have enough time to bond with them very well and I’m sure the same thing is happening in other families. My wife was able to look at my face very well knowing fully well that after the pandemic we’ll return back to our lifestyles of travelling from one place to another. I pray God will make adequate provision for every family in Jesus name. Nigeria will be in peace in Jesus name.
In the last 2months what have you been doing to sustain your family?
There is one language that I normally use; Grace, Grace, Grace. Everything is grace. I believe in the grace of God. The grace of God means success not by your power nor by might but by the help of God. Success without labour, something you don’t deserve, and something you don’t ask or work for. At times we think we are the one making provision for ourselves; it is God. It has been God always. He’s been our financial backbone even without the lockdown. All you need to do is to rely on him and you do not go beyond your boundary. More so, everyone needs to prepare him or herself. Every minute of your life you must sit down and prepare yourself for the future. I don’t have any problem whatsoever, though many people think I have plenty money but I’m satisfied with the grace of God. Where I am today is the grace of God. Many people did not even know that I did not go to any secondary school because I lost my dad when I was 16 years old. I prepared myself to go to Olivet High School but nobody to help me. I went to Ibadan to learn electrical engineering locally, I was at Ogunpa. Immediately I finished I joined the Nigeria Army. It was in the military I met Christ, and see what the Lord is doing in my life today. Even when I was in the Army I couldn’t speak good English, but today, I’m enjoying the Grace of God.
Out of all your songs which one can you say is your no1?
It’s the vol 9 which is “Amona tete mabo” that was the record that brought us to the limelight. Many thought it was our first album, but it’s the Vol 9. Nobody knows me with the first 8 volumes, but I was a local champion in my local church and my compound but today we are international by the grace of God. Amona tete mabo came out in 1984. The message in Amona is from the throne of Grace. God was the one who composed the song Himself, not me.
