In an official letter communicated to Governor Nyesom Wike on Friday morning, the Rivers State Commissioner for Information, Austin Tam-George, resigned his position which takes effect immediately.
According to a report by Premium Times, Tam-George, said he handed over to the Director of Administration, Ministry of Information.
In the letter which was obtained by a correspondent, Tam-George said; “I wish to resign my appointment as Commissioner for Information and Communication with effect from today, June 23, 2017.
“I have handed over officially to the Director of Administration of the Ministry. Thank for the opportunity to serve the state,” he added.
Tam-George, a communication expert and former lecturer at Pan African University, was appointed in December 2015 to handle the public relations activities of the Wike administration, which was inaugurated in May 2015.
It was not immediately clear if Gov. Wike accepted the resignation, which came a day after the governor sacked a commissioner.
