•LAGOS PDP Candidate, MOYOSORE OGUNLEWE Tells City People
•Reveals Why He Is Running A 2nd Time
The PDP in Lagos is fielding a bright young guy as its candidate for Kosofe Constituency 1 seat for the Lagos House of Assembly elections coming up in a few weeks’ time.
The guy is Moyosore Ogunlewe. He is a Lagos Lawyer and the son of Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe. He contested for the same seat in 2015 and he is going for it yet again.
Why is he running again? Is he not afraid to take on the bigger guys who he is ranged against? The incumbent Lawmaker in that Constituency is Hon. Bayo Osinowo. He is going to the Senate, but politically, he needs to secure that seat for his party the APC.
Ogunlewe says power must change hands this time around. He is so sure that he will beat the APC candidate that Hon Bayo Osinowo is fielding. He does not see his young age as a disadvantage.
“It is said that the Youths are the leaders of tomorrow” explains Moyosore. “Well that tomorrow is here today. Now is the time, and the time is now”.
“Growing up in Lagos State, living observing and participating in the daily strife and rigor within the state, one has grown to realize that although improvements and developments exists within the state, there is still room for improvement for the entire populace and environs”.
“With the social change and growth in society we clamour for, it becomes critical that the right seed must be sown by electing the “Best Fit” Candidate whose character, Background, Education, social statue, exposure and ideas with the yearnings and legitimate expectations of the people”.
“Kosofe needs a fresh mind and person with the desire to initiate change and is savvy and willing enough to implement structural and life changing plans”.
“I, Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe possess these qualities and I am willing to take the bull by the horn to improve, develop, empower and most of all speak for the people of his constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly come 2019”.
“Your support determines the choice of representation. Let us therefore resolve to vote Moyo Adedoyin Ogunlewe (MAO) as the representative of Kosofe LGA Constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly”.

MY COVENANT WITH THE PEOPLE OF KOSOFE CONSTITUENCY I
As I offer myself to serve the good people of Kosofe Constituency 1, I have to pledge my commitment to Fundamental Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy as contained in chapter II of the 1999 constitution as Amended.
The most important and relevant provision of the Chapter is section 14(B):- The Security and Welfare of the People Shall Be The Primary Purpose of Government. Section 100 of the 1999 Constitution as amended which provide for the powers of the House of Assembly to make laws shall be exercised by bills passed by the House of Assembly and assented by the Governor.
My areas of concern to alleviate the security and Welfare of the people of Kosofe Constituency 1.
(1) UNINTERRUPTED POWER SUPPLY – MINI-GRID FOR LAGOS STATE
Lagos State should and must be removed from the National Grid. Lagos State Can Generate Transmit and distribute electricity within the state.
We must therefore amend and delete item 14(b) of the concurrent Legislative list which allow state to- “generate, transmit and distribute electricity to areas not covered by a national grid system within that state” This provision was deliberately inserted to control the independence of states, contrary to the principle of fiscal federalism. Electricity is a factor of production and National Development. Electricity cannot be controlled by the Federal Government. Lack of Electricity is affecting the welfare of the people in Kosofe Constituency 1. Their lives and existence depend on interrupted electricity.
(2) LOCAL GOVERNMENT AUTONOMY
The Fourth Schedule of 1999 Constitution provide details of the Functions of Local Government:- (e) Establishment, maintenance and regulation of slaughter houses, markets, Motor Park and public conveniences. (f) Constitution and Maintenance of Roads, streets, street lightings, drains and other public highways, parks, gardens, open spaces, or such public facilities as may be described from time to time by the House of Assembly of a state.
These functions are very clear and affect the welfare of the people in the Local Government.
Because of section 162(6) of 1999 Constitution as amended which provide for state Joint Local Government Accounts all funds from the
Federation Accounts are paid into the Account controlled by the State Government. For instance in July 2018, the federation account paid the sum N479,659,094.38 to the State Joint Account for Kosofe Local Government. This is the average monthly allocation to Kosofe LGA monthly. This amount plus internally generated revenue from the Local Government are meant for the execution of all the functions listed in the fourth schedule of the 1999 Constitution. Why should the roads, health centres, markets, primary schools in Kosofe are not provided and maintained effectively? Local Government Autonomy is the answer.
(3) PROVISION OF NURSERY/CRECHE IN ALL PUBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN LAGOS STATE
All public primary schools in Lagos State must provide for Nursery school facilities. Why must Nursery schools be provided only by private schools?
All children must have access to nursery schools provided by the state and local government. This is what is partially responsible for the 13 million out of school children in Nigeria. Why must Government allow only the private sector to provide Nursery/Creche schools?! All the children born in Lagos State must have access to Nursery school in their early ages. I will prepare a bill on the issue to the State House of Assembly.
(4) PUBLIC HEALTH CENTRES
We will propose new laws and initiatives that would complement, increase and equip our Public health centres in each ward. At our Health Centres, special attention must be given to women, pregnant women, new born children and aged. From research by experts it has been confirmed that African children have detective intellectual development due to lack of proper medical attention, inadequate nutrition and general awareness to modern method of immunisation. I shall sponsor a bill for overall adequate care of the Lagosian child from Infancy to adulthood.
(5) PROVISION OF INFRASTRUCTURE
Roads and other public facilities in Kosofe Constituency 1 must be accorded priority they deserve. Kosofe Local Government must be able to maintain the roads, create new transport network, provide Health centres and improve our schools.
(6) PROVISION FOR THE AGED, THE WIDOWS AND WIDOWERS
I will drive legislation and sponsor programmes that would offer adequate support to all residence of the state, who are widows/widowers and are above 70yrs old that are not able to reasonably support themselves. We should not allow our elderly suffer in old age.
(7) YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT
I will tackle youth redundancy and unemployment in Kosofe Constituency I, and ensure the gainful employment and inclusion of able and qualified youths within the Lagos State Civil Service Government agencies and the private sector.
