Saturday 13th July 2019 marks a new beginning of bliss and union for the families of Mr & Mrs Airhuyuwa Nathaniel Alohan and Late Mr Adebayo &Mrs Remi Balogun as they joined their children, Omorehia princess Alohan and Adedayo Roland Balogun in a traditional marriage ceremony. It would remain an unforgettable day for both families as their children found love in each other arms. The two venue grand wedding witnessed the high and mighty of the society from different sectors which includes telecommunication, businesses, media and politics to mention a few. It started with payment of bride price and dowry at the resident of the bride’s parent in Gowon Estate. The couples were dressed in the Benin cultural attire as they observed the traditional rites of marriage in the presence of elders from the two families. Shortly after, they moved to one of the classy event centres for the traditional wedding.
The Blue desol Event centre, Gowon Estate Lagos witnessed Men and women of substance from different parts of the country gathered to celebrate the big day of the couple and City Peoples Society Reporter TITILOPE OGUNLEYE was there to bring you details of the classy event.
AT THE VENUE
The ambiance at the Blue Desol Event center was second to none. The hall was beautifully decorated in blue and white to correlate with the dress code for the day. Did we tell you that the dress code was navy blue and white? Yes the colour code was in synergy with the decorations and guests dazzled in gorgeous styles for the big day. The orderliness at the event center would thrill any guest coupled with maximum security personnel that were in the different spot. This gave no room for any form of shenanigans. The 1000 capacity hall was filled to brim.
POPULAR MASTER OF CEREMONY MC MIMIKO ANCHORED THE EVENT
There is no doubt that MC mimiko is a comedian and masters of ceremony per excellence. He thrilled the audience with different jokes as he welcomed every one present. He welcomed dignitaries to the high table. He carried the audience along with jokes at intervals as he anchored the wedding programme.
LOVE TRIUMPHS OVER CULTURAL DIVERSITY
Did we tell you that the Balogun family hails from one of the indigenous cities of the Yoruba race? The groom Adedayo Balogun is a native of the biggest city in West Africa, Ibadan in Oyo State while the family of Omorehia Alohan hails from Benin in Edo State. These two different tribes allowed love reign supreme even in the midst of cultural differences. The love the couples shared knows no bounds and that gave birth to a blend of different cultures. The two cultures were fully represented in terms of menu, music, dressing to mention a few.
AKA MELODY AND OMOJOGE AND HIS GOLDEN FRIENDS ON THE LIVE BAND
Omojoge and his golden friends thrilled the bride’s family with different traditional beats and songs from Benin kingdom while Aka Melody thrilled the groom’s family in diverse Yoruba songs. The musical bands left no stone unturned as they made their guests ask for more. AKA melody, band men dazzled in blue attire which was in sync with the colour code for the event.
MOTHER AND FATHER IN LAWS ENTRANCE
The bride’s parents had omoroge and his golden friends on the band stand, who gave them some traditional hit songs as they made danced in company of friends and family to the high table. The groom’s parent came in shortly after the bride’s parent. Aka melody band was on standby to thrill the groom’s family with their melodious voices. The parents of the couples were dressed in the same attire. The mother in laws wore an exotic dazzling green lace, head gear and jewelry, while the father in laws wore a green Agbada and a cap to match.
THE GRAND ENTRY OF THE COUPLE
The master of ceremony welcomed the newest couple by asking families and friends to give them a standing ovation as they walked down the aisle. The couple gave a grand entry and entourage of friends joined them as they danced in. It took a while for the couples to be seen because the friends of the bride and groom had to dance in before the couples. The ladies were dressed in the blue Aso-Ebi and blue head gear while the men rocked white attire and a blue cap to match. The couple stormed the event dressed in green Aso-Oke, head gear and cap to match. It was their big day and they made fashion statements. The groom who is the definition of tall, dark and handsome rocked an aso-oke Agbada with a cap and jewelry to match. The bride was super ready for her big day and she looked like a queen. Her Aso- oke dress had designs that made it stand out. They danced in grooving to dj mazimums beat.
DJ MAXIMUM ON THE WHEEL
Popular Lagos Dj Maximum changed the atmosphere as the couples danced in. He carefully selected danceable hit songs that thrilled the grooms men and best ladies. The Aso ebi ladies and men could not help but groove as they took turns dancing into the hall.
THE C.E.O of SLOT CAME DESPITE BUSY SCHEDULE
Mr Nnamdi Ezeigbo is the chief executive officer of the foremost telecommunication company in Nigeria known as Slot system. Slot system is involved in the production and distribution of widely accepted phonebrand in shore of Africa and the world Infinix and tecno. He is one of the Nigerian entrepreneurs that have taken giants strides in getting to the needs of Nigerian. He came with his lovely wife to show love and support to the new couple.
CUTTING OF THE CAKE AND COUPLE’S FIRST ASSIGNMENT
The groom and brides were invited to the cake stand where they had the cutting of the cake. Mc Mimiko invited elders from the two families to coordinate the cutting of the cake. The hashtag for the wedding was #OMODAYO and the MC thought of spelling the hash tag but changed his mind by asking the coupls to cut the cake once he mention the number of children they want in their family. The couple agreed on two and they cut the cake after the number was mentioned. The wife went on her knees as she fed her husband and the husband in turn gave her a long kiss as he feeds his beautiful wife. Families and loved once joined in photo session as they moved to the dance floor.
COUPLES FIRST OFFICIAL DANCE
The couples had a moment to share alone in presence of the guests present. It was their official dance as Mr and Mrs. Dj Maximum gave them solemn love songs as they danced and kissed. The fireworks made the time more memorable. As the couple danced, there were fireworks that were placed at strategic positions to add colour to the moment.
EDO SOCIETY WOMEN AND MEN HAD A DANCE
The parents of the bride had a swell time as the Edo society Women and men gave them the dance of honour. The bride’s parents sat and the members of the Edo Society Club rallied round them. They sprayed them crispy Naira notes as the danced round them. After the traditional rite was performed, families and friends joined the couple on the dance floor.
