Thursday 23rd May, 2019 was the day the Lagos State branch of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, had its 13th honours’ nite, where professionalism, characteristism were promoted. Individuals, organisations were rewarded for their performance, especially those who are based in Lagos where the activities of real estate is booming.
The 2019 edition was held at the Civic Centre, the prestigious event centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.
This year’s event had a lot to talk about, as important dignitaries, captain of industries, top real estate players and government agencies stormed the event. Lagos State governor elect, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and wife, Dr. Ibironke added glamour to the event. The governor elect stormed the venue with his small entourage. He was the Special guest of honour of the event. And he arrived on time to witness the key part of the programme.
PASTOR JAGUN WAS HONOURED
ESV Pastor Ola Jagun, was one of the past chairmen of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, Lagos State Chapter. He was honoured for his contribution to the institution. He was the first awardee and he won meritorious award for his service.
PROF. MODUPE OMIRIN, ALSO WON BIG!
Prof. Omirin is an educator, a member of Faculty at the University of Lagos for over 30 years. She won meritorious award for her service in the last two years. Prof. Modupe has immensely enriched the knowledge of every student who went to UNILAG to study Real Estate related courses.
ESV GBENGA OLANIYAN ALSO WON BIG
ESV Gbenga Olaniyan is one of those who was honoured at the 13th honours nite for his meritorious service in the last 2 years, as a real estate practitioner.
Another personality who also won a meritorious award for his service is Prof. Timothy Nubi. He was honoured for his positive energy and tenacity.
WINNERS FOR EACH CATEGORY EMERGED
Best Estate Surveying Firm in Facility Management went to Babalola Adeniyi & Co. The most notable real estate development award went to Alaro City, Lekki, beating Landmark Towers, Oniru and King Tower, Ikoyi to the award.
While Stanbic Capital, got real estate finance award.
Witchtect, also won big. It came top as the most innovative building material in the industry.
Also recognised are; Knight-Frank, Jide Taiwo & Co, Gbenga Olaniyan & Associates/Estatelinks Ltd, Dele Olaiya & Partners Emma Wike & Partners, Johnbull Amayeavbo & Co, ESV ((Dr.) & ESC (Mrs.) B.J. Patunola-Ajayi, and ESV Scholastic Okpeva.
The Chairman of the event, Chief Wonuola in her speech, urged estate surveyors and valuers not to shy away from national assets. The National Stadium, National Theatre should be of great concern to the institution. She also advised members of the instution to also look at Lagos Island; how they should advice government on how to better handle the area.
SANWO-OLU AND WIFE HONOURED
The Lagos State Governorship elect, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his wife, Ibironke were honoured and he also spoke on how his government will partner with the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors & Valuers. The governor elect, said his government will appoint right people who will better handle day to day activities in the real estate practise.
