•Remember Mum 20 Years After, In IBADAN
On Saturday 3rd, 2019, a virtuous woman was remembered, 20years after she departed this world. Madam Alice Asiyanbi Ilori was remembered by her children and family. She was a great mother when she was alive. She was an epitome of a Total woman, who was loved by family and friends. She died at the age of 53.
Though she died 20 years ago, her memory still lingers on. This explains why London based celebrity lady, Olabisi Kotun and siblings gathered family, friends and well-wishers to remember her. Dignitaries from all walks of life stormed Pentorise Event Centre, situated at 1, Independence Square, Awolowo Avenue in Bodija. It’s one events all the residents of that area in Ibadan will not forget in a hurry. City People Magazine, SUNDAY ADIGUN was at the event and brings you gists.
ARRIVAL OF GUESTS
For an event that was scheduled to start for 12noon, many guests were already on ground since 10am. In fact, some joined the event decorators in setting up, putting finishing touches to the setting of chairs and tables. Many guests dazzled in Ankara Aso-Ebi.
There was Joy written all over many of the guests as they made their way into the venue. Apart from those that wore Ankara, other groups were seen rocking pitch colored lace.
IT ALL STARTED WITH SHORT SERVICE
The short service commenced at about 12:30pm with prayer session by Rev. Dr. E.A Adedeji of Gateway Baptist Church, Sango Ibadan. He was the one that came up after the Mc declared the event opened and demanded if the pastors in charge are available.
Rev. Adedeji started with short prayer and also sang before the members of the church choir took over from him for praise and worship session that lasted for about 15 minutes before another Pastor took over for exhortation.
WHAT THE PREACHER SAID
Rev.Wuyi Oke is one of the pastors from Gateway Baptist Church, Sango Ibadan. In his word, “What are we passing on to the generation coming behind us? I beseech you all lets lay a good foundation for our children. If the deceased did not leave good heritage for the children, they won’t remember her today.
Brethren, how are we going to remember you after you have gone to meet our lord Jesus Christ? If you don’t know Christ as your lord and savior, it will be difficult for you to reign with him”.
PRAYER FOR THE ILORI AND OPABOLA FAMILY
A session of prayers was held for the children of the deceased, Wole, Leye and Bisi after the word exhortation. Rev.(Dr.) E.A Adedeji of Gateway Baptist Church, Sango Ibadan led the prayer that lated for about 5 mins.
OLABISI, HUBBY AND SIBLINGS PLAYED HOST
Beautiful London based Olabisi Kotun stunned guests when she entered the venue. Everybody wanted to have a glance at her ravishing beauty. She looked stylish. She was the cynosure of all eyes at the party. She was also busy exchanging pleasantries with guests.
Her hubby, Kotun was everywhere making sure that all the guests were well taken care of. There were all sorts of foods for the guests, complemented with assorted drinks. All her Siblings too played host to all their guests. Indeed, it was a classy event.
WOLEX MUSIC WORLD ON THE BAND STAND
Oluwole Adebayo popularly known as Wolex is the leader of the sensational band, Wolex Music World. The band is one of the wave making bands rocking Apata, Ibadan. They really thrilled the guests and made the event worthwhile.
MAMA’S CHURCH MEMBER SPEAKS WELL OF HER”
Late Mrs Alice Asiyanbi was a woman with a good heart. She was very compassionate. She was one of the most valuable members in our group when she was alive”.
MAMA’S FRIEND ALSO TALKS ABOUT HER“
Mama never discriminates. She was very close to my family. She gave all my children individual names. When I left the area we were staying together, she always makes sure that she comes to me every time. She introduced me to so many people, friends.
She was a loving mother to all the children, I remembered when Bisi gained admission into Eruwa Poly, she packed so many things to her school just to make sure that she did not lack anything. Mama left a great vacuum and I will forever miss her”, says, one of the closest friends.
REPRESENTATIVE OF OPABOLA FAMILY SPEAKS
Prof. Babatunde Sunday Opabola says, “I’m standing here today because I’m the closest person to Mama when she was alive. She’s the best person I’ve ever known. She sponsored the education of my brother and I. We have no reason to mourn. Today we are thanking God for a life well spent. It gladdens my heart to see all the children doing well today. May God keep everyone of us in Jesus name”.
ILORI FAMILY ALSO REMEMBER THEIR WIFE
I’m one of the children of Mama”. Just like what Mama’s friend said, “she never discriminated when she was alive”. Ilori family is a polygamous family, but she has never segregated other children from her own biological children. She was a great mother.
AYO EWEBIYI PERFORMED
The evergreen Ayo Ewebiyi was very much available to do what she knows how to do best. She dazzled every guest with her outstanding performance. She’s one of the professional chanters we are proud of.

Late Madam Alice AsiyanbiIlori was blessed with great children who are doing well all over the world. They are; Bode Ilori, Wole Ilori, Leye Ilori, Bisi Kotun, and Sola Ilori.
MAMA EREKO SUPPORTS THE FAMILY
Veteran actress, Madam Alausa popularly known as Mama Ereko was at her very best at the party. She seems to be very close to the family. She played host to her own guests. She had two tables to herself both for her personal guests. She really did well and supported the family.
