The Nigerian fashion industry has evolved over time and it has churned out creative talents with exceptional skills who are favourably competing with their counterparts internationally .One of such dynamic designers is 24 year old Mariam Afolabi, whose penchant for fashion has earned her accolades from renowned designers. Mariam who is the daughter of Lagos billionaire Dr. Taiwo Olayinka Afolabi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SIFAX Group, a multinational conglomerate that comprises of over 8 Companies including SIFAX Ports & Cargo, SIFAX SAHCOL, SIFAX Offdock, SIFAX Shipping, SIFAX Haulage, SIFAX Forwarding and SIFAX Oil & Gas, made her first impression on the Nigerian fashion scene at the age of 19 years while she was still a Law student at Warwick University .
She stamped her presence with her unique fashion label, Mademoiselle Aglaia which saw her showcasing her bespoke collections at different fashion shows including Echo and X&Os for teenagers, the African Fashion Week London ,Music Meets Runway,and also at Universities like UCL, Imperial, Southampton, Nottingham, Toronto and Warwick.
Her use of beads embroidery and prints to express her unique styles, not only stands her out from the rest but has earned her a premium spot among Nigerian celebrities especially showbiz stars who love to adorn her designs .She has clothed celebrities like music star Yemi Alade, Star actress Omotola Jalade, Falz D Bahd guy, Eku Edewor, Sheyi Shay, Ini Edo, Susan Peters, Layole Oyatogun, Dabota Lawson, and a long list of others. Her amazing collections have also earned her several awards nominations.
The stylish and young designer launched her first fashion store in 2015, a multimillion naira store in Lekki Phase 1 called The Style Café which comprised of her fashion label, Mademoiselle Aglaia, a unisex salon; a beauty parlour, a spa and an eatery where local and intercontinental foods are served. However, her outfit took a new and grander outlook last weekend when she rebranded her fashion label formerly known as Mademoiselle Aglaia to become Mazelle with the launch of her new beautiful complex called The Style Loft Box, an architectural masterpiece built with containers. Her new fashion label Mazelle which was formerly Mademoiselle Agalia is now located at the Mazelle studio situated right inside her new one stop fashion complex now called The Style Loft Box located at No 2 Alexander Road, Ikoyi .
The eye popping structure played host to a crop of Lagos celebrities including Sen. Obanikoro, Ramsey Noah,Annie Idibia,Toke Makinwa, and a long list of Nollywood stars to mark its grand opening.
