She came to limelight when her husband became one of the close cabinet members of His Excellency, Sen Ibikunle Amosun, the governor of Ogun State. She has also been at the fore front of rendering help and service to humanity when she became one of the pioneer members of the Association of Spouses of Ogun state functionaries SOSGFA which was founded to create an avenue for harmony , enrich family ties and interaction amongst families of government functionaries. She attended New Era secondary school, Lagos and proceeded to Ogun State University where she read law.She worked as a solicitor in Afribank, now Skye Bank until she left 8 years ago and later ventured into business. Though a bit reserved, Barrister Folashade Adeoluwa stepped out at the National Women Conference in Lagos and one of the delegates from Ogun State and also to stand in for Her Excellency, Olufunso Amosun at the opening ceremony.Wearing a green lace complemented with a green headgear, she was full of smiles and participated in all the sessions. For the first time, she granted City People Society Editor, TAYO FAJORIN OYEDIJI an interview where she she talked about her life and been the wife of Ogun SSG.
Can you tell us how you feel to be part of this laudable national women conference in Lagos?
I feel very happy to be part of this wonderful event. I feel fulfilled as a woman and I feel encouraged.First as a woman and also as one of the wives of the public officials in my state. This event is very laudable and I’m happy that I am even here to sit in for the First Lady of my state by being one of the delegates representing my state. This women conference means a lot to me, like I was telling some of the women earlier on that what is happening here today is what is commendable and I,as a woman, I am praying that we will be able to replicate this same thing in my state, Ogun State. We already have something similar, we have SOSGFA, which is Spouses of Ogun State Government Functionaries, but I am hoping that we too as pioneers will be able to hand it down to our successors.
You are one of the wives of Ogun states functionaries who has a lot up his sleeves being the secretary to the government, how have you coped with all this public attention?
Well, I will say it has been the grace of God and I must confess, sometimes, you just have to learn to juggle things. It was not a bit easy for me but along the line, I told myself I have no choice and have to keep, it all together.A woman has to support her husbands work and be at the fore front for the family. You grow yourself as well by standing by your husband, so yes, the public attention is there but I have been able to cope along with not being a private person anymore because even if you don’t go outside there on your own, your husband’s job will keep you out there whenever you complement him outside.
What has been your role as one of the wives of Ogun State functionaries?
In Ogun State, we have something similar to COWLSO, So as part of the pioneer members, we have done and still working on a lot of many things to solidify the association. Being one of the team players,in my own little way, in conjunction and collaboration with Her excellency, the First Lady of Ogun State, Funsho Amosun,we have been able to mobilize our women to impact the lives of the good people of Ogun State in so many various way.i will just give you a few example, in the last 6 years of the administration of His excellency, Sen Ibikunle Amosun, SOSGFA every year has been able to commission toilets for secondary schools across the state, and beyond that we have been supporting Her Excellency, Funsho Amosun with her uplift foundation which in so many ways has impacted the lives of the good people of Ogun State.
Can you tell us your relationship with the First Lady, Olufunsho Amosun?
I have a very beautiful, cordial and very warm relationship with her and I will say the thanks goes to her because she is indeed a very warm personality.. She thinks of everyone first before herself. She always gives you priority and she is a lover of women. Our closeness has been very cordial and keeps improving time over time. I have a great respect for her because she likes to give back to the society, despite that we belong to the same team, she is also one of the nicest persons I have known.
Can you share with us your journey into matrimony and what has sustained your marriage for many years?
It has been the grace of God. I will say temperance, perseverance and with a lot of prayers. It is not easy to keep a home for many years, but a woman has to do a lot to keep it together. I thank God where he has brought us and I pray for many more years together.I am a lawyer by profession but I am a business woman by vocation,I am from Ogun state, a mother and a wife .I have been married for 26 years and still counting. I met my husband at the Ogun state university,he was one of the junior lecturers then,we met there, one thing led to another and like they say, they rest is history.
