It is no longer news that the federal government of Nigeria has suspended microblogging platform, Twitter indefinitely.
The chain of events began when the platform removed the tweet of President Mohammadu Buhari as it considered it abusive and claims it violated its rules, two days ago.
The government reacted angrily yesterday by announcing an indefinite suspension of Twitter and made good on it’s promise when the telecommunications operators blocked Twitter in the dead of the night following a directive from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
Hence, Nigerians who have depended on Twitter for the better part of a decade were no longer able to Access the platform to even log into their accounts.
However, in this modern day, it is very difficult for any government to prevent its citizens from accessing desired websites or platforms, except the internet is completely blocked.
Consequently, Nigerians who cannot do without Twitter have been downloading VPN applications to circumvent the suspension of the platform by the government.
Both Google Play and Apple Store have seen thousands of downloads in only a few minutes starting from early this morning.
Except, the internet is completely blocked, it is difficult in this modern day to prevent people from accessing certain platforms.
Even, then there are ways for individuals to get past a total ban of the internet in any country.
