This is about a big event that is currently rocking Nigeria.It is called the 2021 Soup-A-Star Outreach.It is an annual health outreach initiative.
This outreach seeks to impart valuable knowledge of healthy nutrition and healthy life style choices in a fun “Cookathon” and Food fest where the favorite celebrities cook and serve the community, in a midst of local foods array, by local vendors.
This event not only educates the people on how our local foods could be our medicine, it brings exposure to our local cuisine art, as well as provides opportunity for interested Nigerians to win some monetary prizes and gifts.
This year, the event is taking place in 3 different locations,namely:
Lagos – 4th December, 2021,
Owerri – 11th December, 2021,and
Uyo, Akwa-Ibom – 18th December, 2021.
A few days back,the brain behind this initiative,Regina Askia Williams revealed a lot about what to expect in this year’s episode.
“I am happy that Soup-A-Stars is here again,”she explains.”This is the third time out. People wonder what the focus is?The focus is the simple fact that we are what we eat.”
“If we all understood the deep connection between our health and our foods, we would be careful with our diets.”
“Life style choice Illness like HBP and Diabetes, are a result of excess unhealthy foods and lack of exercise. These are illnesses that can be reversed, these are also illnesses with devastating consequences of kidney failure, blindness, eventual amputations etc.”
“The simple program of educating the community on our local foods and how these could be our medicine eventually move the needle at least towards a consciousness of what we eat. It doesn’t take much – choose healthy foods and eat in moderation.”
THE FORMULA
Find your BMI (Body Mass Index), determine your target BMI.
Put yourself on a diet to reach your target BMI. How? Choose healthy foods – eat half of your usual intake for two weeks. Weigh yourself.
Eat half of what you have been eating for another 2 weeks,until you reach a goal.”
“People need to also consider intermittent fasting which I will discuss another time.”
“Walking / Exercise is so much more important than we want to believe. Do yourself a favor, if you don’t want to exercise, at least walk.”
“These are general recommendations for healthy people. Get clearance from your Doc if you have any health conditions.

Imo,and AkwaIbom.”
