•To Do Money Rituals
This is one crazy story all ladies must read right now. It is the pathetic story of what Yaboo Boys are doing to girls. It is about how Yahoo Boys now use Ladies Sanitary pads for money ritual. They now go about looking for sanitary pads to make use of. Before now, it used to be pants but right now its sanitary pads.
These boys have now gone extreme; they have now involved in money ritual, but still disguise as yahoo boys in other for them to be accepted in their various communities. Because they make money from money ritual, many ladies want to date Yahoo boy because it pays their bills, and as such, they are the ones who many of these Yahoo boys use to make ritual for their wicked act.
Few weeks back, a popular DJ, from Abeokuta was caught with 40 used sanitary pads, days after buying a new car. He was also caught with various charms. This Abeokuta big boy, was caught days after buying a new car and throwing a lavish birthday for his girlfriend. Ilesa, one of the ancient towns in Osun State is on the radar, as many Yahoo boys now have taken over the town with their devilish act.
Last week, a Nigerian, Muyiwa Olayinka explained how these Yahoo boys have also now taken over Ilesa. “Let me tell you a little bit about myself”,” he wrote. “I’m a freeborn of Ijesa land, born and raised in Ilesa, presently in Osun State, Nigeria. Ilesa a peaceful and serene town is located in the Eastern Senatorial part of Osun State. According to Wikipedia, Ilesa has a population of about 310,000. The town is well known for gold mine deposit and is the home of International Breweries Limited that produces alcoholic beverages including the highest selling beer (Trophy) in Nigeria.
I had my primary and secondary education there before leaving home to have my tertiary education elsewhere. So my formative years were spent in this town of “Ogedengbe agbogun gboro abi kaka loju ogun”, the famous popular Ijesa war general of the yore that jealously defended his territory from the rampaging armies of occupation.
Expectedly, Ilesa and her affairs are so dear to me. Due to the peripatetic nature of a young man in search of Golden Fleece, I berthed in Lagos the commercial city of Nigeria. With my new home, I did not forget my root and I’m always proud to tell everyone who cares to listen regaling them with sweet tales of my Ilesa. Lagos just like any modern city of the world is a city of hustle and bustle. A mega city that its commercial hub is strewn of high rise building, beautiful beaches and bridges, has modern facilities, so also has its fair share of crimes and violence. It is a city of fast paced lifestyles coupled with the get rich quick syndrome among many Nigerian youths. We are used to youths on the street of Lagos living opulent lifestyles without any legal and traceable source of incomes. Some of them are Yahoo and Yahoo boys plus.
Yahoo and Yahoo boys plus with the advent of internet facilities have finally come to stay with us in Nigeria. For those who may not understand these terminologies, Yahoo is named after the internet company whose free e mail accounts are sometimes used by scammers. It’s a form of internet fraud to deceive, lure victims all over the world and defraud them of their hard earned monies, life savings and investments.
Majority of these Yahoo boys are so young they exhibit youthful exuberance with the mode of dressing, attending night clubs and throwing wild parties frequently, dressing outrageously (sagging of pants), wild haircuts, binge drinking of assorted alcoholic beverages with attendant reckless behaviors. They buy fancy cars with beautiful and pretty young ladies in their tows and they can be easily recognized. These Nigerian youths are always busy in the day time looking for preys by sending scam messages with electronic gadgets such as laptops, smart phones and Ipads. These are their working tools. They come out at nights to flaunt and spend their ill-gotten wealth leaving their victims with tales of regret, sorrow and tears.
Since these Yahoo boys can be easily recognized to discerning eyes, so also the security officials especially the Nigerian police, they are arrested on daily basis but are eventually released once they can pay for their freedom. Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS), a special branch of Nigerian Police became notorious for indiscriminate arrests of innocent Nigerians in the guise of nipping in the bud the menace of Yahoo boys. It was a disguise to extort from both innocent and suspects of Yahoo boys. As a result of these continuous harassments, there was a public outcry before the new Inspector General of Police disbanded FSARS and rebranded it.
I thought my home town Ilesa is successfully insulated from the menace of Yahoo and Yahoo plus boys until my recent visit. I was so naïve and ignorant of her innocence forgetting the world is a global village with the interconnectivity of the internet.
You may laugh at my stupidity and my naivety, but you got to understand that my Ilesa was a peaceful community when I was growing up. A close knit town where every child belongs to the community and if you are found wanting, be rest assured you will be fished out and punished accordingly. There was no hiding place for evil doers. There were few known families that were notorious but were ostensibly ostracized from the rest of the community. It was such a wonderful place to live and raise a family in those days. The reality of this infection dawned on me when I encountered a young lad in his early twenties, in a commercial bus I rode home in my last visit. My chanced meeting with this young guy was a wakeup call to jerk me up from my reverie that I was living in a fantasy land.
The young lad opened up to me about so many things about the mode of operations as we got talking. He told me about dating and money transfer mode of deceiving their ‘Maga’. Maga is the street slang for victims of internet frauds. I was informed that once you are lucky to get a rich ‘Maga’, you have hit a goldmine. The Maga will continue to pay after you have jazzed him (under the influence of voodoo). He pointedly told me that almost all Yahoo boys have a spiritual godfather (a native traditional man or juju man) that spices up the trade. The Maga under a spell will continue to “pay” till he runs bankrupt. Once they are done with him they moved on to find another Maga.
He said the Yahoo plus boys are the next level and these ones are notorious using vital organs of human beings, ladies pants or undies, or going to the extremes of shedding innocent blood to do concoctions to pep the nefarious deals. They are mean, heartless and once they make it, they are stupendously rich. This blood covenants are meant to be renewed periodically, as a result of this, so many unsuspecting young ladies close to them are continually offered for blood sacrifices.
This is why there are upsurge of missing Nigerians and corpses of young ladies whose vital organs like breasts including private parts have been removed, are found in obscured places. EFCC have been making several arrests and some suspects are displayed publicly with charms and some recovered loots.
This young lad claimed he lives in a (N650, 000 annually) rented apartment in Ikeja area of Lagos. An indigene of Ilesa, he was planning to relocate back home because Lagos was becoming too hot for them, due to continuous harassments of security officials. I got the shock of my life when he concluded that Ife, Ilesa and Oshogbo have become the hub of Yahoo and Yahoo plus boys in Osun State. Presently in Ilesa, there are lots of hotels, clubs and relaxation joints these lads patronize. Out of curiosity, I visited one where a plate of Indomie costs N700.
My brother that is resident Ilesa confirmed all these developments. He said these young boys build houses they will not live to cover their tracks. Many of these houses are rented to tenants. He confirmed there are too many deaths, cases of missing people and lots of unusual rituals in the town.
What the heck? My Ilesa has been desecrated and violated.
This is the trend all over the nation: vibrant Nigerian youths are turning to vicious and violent crimes when opportunities are shrinking or nonexistent for many of them to engage in legitimate means. My young friend said he’s a graduate of more than 6 years from one of the Nigerian polytechnics, unfortunately for him; he had not been gainfully employed for a single day. Though we may argue that not all unemployed graduates are criminals but we must not be unmindful that an idle hand is the devil’s workshop. Bad association or keeping wrong crowds is another factor. But we must address the widen inequality and lack of job opportunities that is currently prevalent in Nigeria.
What kind of nation will keep churning out graduates from Nigerian tertiary institutions on yearly basis but no job placements? It’s only the privileged ones and connected few are destined to be gainfully employed. Recently a scandal broke out about 900 children of the elites that were surreptitiously employed in Central Bank of Nigeria without public notification and advertisement. This is just an example of secret employments of children of the high and the mighty into public service.
The private sectors that are supposed to employ many teeming graduates are barely surviving and folding up because of lack of enabling environments to thrive. It is sad our youths that are meant to be the drivers of our economy are forced by circumstances beyond their control to embrace crimes. These are our leaders of tomorrow that have tasted blood and they will be too difficult to be redeemed.
In the past, sport and entertainment used to be the sectors that engaged large pool of budding Nigerian youths but not anymore. Different kinds of sporting events have catapulted many youths from the slums and poor homes to become international super stars. We used to have the likes of J J Okocha, Kanu Nwakwo and other non-Nigerians and international stars like Lionel Messi and C Ronaldo that have broken barriers of poverty through sports.
Where are the footballs competitions like Principal cups in our secondary schools, Sport Academies and competitive inter house sports for track and field events? They have gone into oblivion. Budding music unpopular artists are finding it so difficult to break into limelight; this is why the likes of Davido, Wizkid and the few ones have dominated the scene for too long without discovering new talents. They lack platforms and financial wherewithal to sustain their talents. Major platforms like MTN Project fame, Nigerian Idols, Nigeria Got talent have closed shops.
Our curriculum in our tertiary institutions are not tailored to create entrepreneurs but designed to produce graduates from these institutions to look for jobs. The technical colleges are not well equipped to meet new challenges. We are just dancing round in circles and sitting on a keg of gunpowder that could explode and consume all of us.
These are realities of our time. I’m deeply concerned about the future of our nation. Since nature abhors vacuum, Yahoo and Yahoo boys are multiplying in folds and have taken over in the absence of realistic alternatives. We cannot afford to be complacent because if we refuse to act, it will create a whirlwind that will blow no good
Time is running out fast on all of us, we have to do something urgently to reverse this dangerous time. All hands must be on deck.
