Please introduce yourself ?
My name is Tumisin Akinwunmi ,I am 21 years old I am still a student I am presently studying product design at the University of Huddersfield United Kingdom.
Tell us what this is all about?
This is the Lemon curd programme and it is run by my brand lucid lemon, basically it is a brand for upcoming artiste and talented youth in various fields to showcase the stuff they are made of. We have pitch many artistes with different record labels within the country. We also try to spot and discover talents wherever they are as long as they are Nigerians. We don’t just deal with artistes , we deal with writers, poets etc.
What informed your decision to come up with this idea ?
I have a team of between 16 and 23 years , we are all still very young at heart, I actually championed this course and it is yielding positive results at the moment . Moreso, the need to tap into many talents abound in this country and beyond informed my decision.
Where do you operate from?
Right about now we don’t have any office what we have been using is our online facilities, and it has a wider reach. How do you spot and nurture Talents? The platform is there for any talented individual to tap into, moreso we shop for them ourselves through our scouting system. One information reaches us about a talented individual we will go after him and give him a platform.
Which particular areas do you draw talents from?
From any field as long as the individual is highly talented, trusted and tested. It could be Fashion, writing, singing and acting name it. We absorb from many fields as long as that individual is equal to the task.
How would you address the issue of unemployment and youth restiveness in the society?
This is one of the reasons I decided to spot and empower youths in the land who basically have one talent or the other to showcase we give them a platform and try to empower them. See many of my friends are studying one course or the other because their parents want them to become a medical doctor meanwhile they have other talents.
Who are the people supporting your brand?
We have a couple of organizations like Access bank, Zmriage, Temple etc these organizations are interested in empowering people especially those who have what I t takes in terms of talents. In this part of the world, it is pretty difficult getting corporate organizations to sponsor, this is a laudable project and I believe it should have sponsors.
Did you get support from your parent when you were starting out?
Sure they did, but at some point, they wanted to know if I was sure of what I was going into, but when they saw that I had a strong passion for it, they stood solidly behind me.
What advice would you give to talents that have not been discovered?
I will advise them to always be steadfast and strong in whatever they are doing, yes they should keep the passion going, they must strive to ensure that the God given talents does not die. Nobody is too young to venture into laudable projects, can you believe I ventured into this project when I was 16 years old. They should start now and the sky will be their starting point.
