…At This Years Ojude Oba Festival In IJEBU-ODE
The annual Ojude Oba Festival is here again. After 2 years break, the festival will hold on Tuesday, 12th of July 2022 in Ijebu-Ode. Because of COVID-19, the festival could not hold on 2020 and 2021. And this year, it is returning with a BIG bang as many sons and daughters of Ijebu land will be gathering at Awujale’s Palace to pay homage to him, 3 days after Ileya Festival.
Who are the big women to watch out for at this years festival, you may ask? We can tell you. Year in, year out, some prominent Ijebu women usually attend and play prominent roles at this historic festival that usually records huge attendance. Some of them are big women who occupy key positions in the Ijebu Traditional council. They are Awujale’s titled Chiefs. Some are his Otunbas. Some are the Iyalodes, Iya Egbes and key officers of the various Age Grade groups.
Lets tell you about them. One of them is Chief (Mrs.) Bisi Osibogun, the Iyalode of Ijebu. She was made the Iyalode of Ijebu 2 years ago by the Awujale. She is a valued member of Ijude Oba Planning Committee.
There is also the Iyalaje of Ijebuland, Alhaja Korede Alatishe. There are others like Iyalode Badejoko Onabanjo of Egbe Olugbadebo Obinrin (Elite), Iyalode Alhaja Tamiudapo Owodunni of Egbe Bobayo (Obinrin), Iyalode Egbe Bobagbuyi Obinrin, Alhaja Bukky Ogun; Iyalode of Egbe Obaleke (Obirin) Otunba Iyabo Omotayo Odunmolorun; Princess Oyinade Adekoya (Iyalode Egbe Bobajolu Obinrin Original), Alhaja Yemi Balogun (the Iyalode Egbe Bobajolu Obirin Original), Alhaja Yemi Balogun (the Iyalode Egbe Bobajolu Obinrin Basiri), Alhaja Busurat Oguneye (Iyalode Egbe Obafuwaji Obinrin, The Great), Mrs. Oluwatoyin Ayanbadejo (Iyalode Egbe Obafuwaji Obinrin, Adedoyin), Iyalode Wasilat Kike Odutayo (Egbe Bobagbimo, Obinrin), Iyalode Mathilda Lara Oduekun (Egbe Bobakeye Obinrin, Surakatu), Mrs. Toyin Oluwole (Iyalode Egbe Bobakeye Obinrin, Double T), Alhaja Korede Alatishe Iyalode Egbe Bobagunte Obinrin), Iyalode Toyin Aberuagba (Egbe Bobagunte Obinrin Gold), Iyalode Abiola Okunowo-Akande (Egbe Bobagunte Obinrin, Olu Iwa), Princess Adebukanla Osibanjo (Iyalode Egbe Gbobaniyi Asiwaju) and Alhaja Kudi Shote (Iyalode Egbe Gbobaniyi Obinrin, Olori).

She is the Iyalode Egbe Jagunmolu (Obinrin T2). How about Iyalode Taiwo Odumosu? She is the Iyalode of Egbe Arobayo Obinrin (Akile).

There is also Iyalode Bolanle Kuforiji Adeyemi of Egbe Tobalase Obinrin (Akile), Iyalode Olayinka Momodu, the head of Egbe Tobalase Obinrin (Rontex), Iyalode Kuburat Aregbe, the head of Egbe Bobamayegun Obinrin, Aremo Alara Akile, Iyalode Oluwakemi Popoola Ango, the Iyalode Egbe Bobamaiyegun Obinrin, Asiwaju Akile, and Iyalode Islamiat Sowumi (President of Egbe Bobamaiyegun Obinrin Akile).
Let’s reveal other celebrity women to watch out for at this years Ojude Oba Festival in Ijebu Ode. They include Yeye Ewa Olayinka Sanni who loves in America. She is a lady of Style. She is the Yeye Ewa of Joga Orile. There is also the ever beautiful & stylish Kaffie Anifowose who also lives in America. Both of them are friends. They usually travel down to Nigeria to celebrate Ileya and Ojude Oba.
Yeye Olayinka is the Iya Egbe Bobadega Okunrin Akile Ijebu. There is also Chief Mrs. Iyabo Ninalowo, the Aso Oke Fabric merchant. There are also members of the prestigious Egbe Tobalase Obinrin Obalofin Akile Ijebu.
There are also members of Egbe Gbobaniyi Asiwaju Obinrin Akile Ijebu (1962-1964) The Iyalode is Olukorede Osinowo-Adeyefa, Otun Iyalode is Adetoun Obasoto, Eta Iyalode is Woleola Iyabo Amoo and Balogun is Rotimi Alakiu Shittu.

Iyalode Abiola Basanya is the head of Egbe Obayori Obinrin Akile Ijebu. (1977-1979) she has been entrusted with the leadership of the Egbe since 28th June 2019. She is going to be at this year’s Ojude Oba, along with her members like the Iya Egbe, Alhaja Busurat Okeowo Ogunneye; Akeweje Egbe, Alhaja Khadijat Morayo Seriki (CEO, KADMOS Fabrics); Adviser Egbe, Alhaja Ganiyat Oluwakemi Bello; Otun Iyalode, Jagun Selimot Oluwamitoyin Shonibare; Eta Iyalode Jagun Nimotallahi Mosunmola Kayode; Asoju Iyalode, Jagun Arewa Oluwatoyin Sarumi and Co-ordinator, Jagun Oluwakemi Alatishe.
