How does he feel spending 20 years on the throne? “I feel happy, thanking God, glorifying God, to be 65 and 20 years on the throne. I am very, very happy.
When he looks back, what are the thoughts that come to mind? “One thing that always comes to mind these days is the slogan: Slow and Steady Wins The race, because like 20 years ago, I was thinking of other things. But right now, I am just say that all that has happened is only God’s doing, not anyone else but God, all the way.”
How did he settle in at that time? “Haaa! you are asking me. Don’t you know how I settled in. You are my Otunba at Joga Orile. You know all the details. It was a big challenge. After all the pressures, I settled in with my people. I love my people. They are always with me. We would just be there, in front of my old grandpa’s house which served as my palace. And we tried to make things happen. But at the same time, we found out that we had to be determined and move forward. We realised that while you are trying to makie things happen, there are others who will be opposed to that, they don’t want it that way. they want it in another different way. They will look down on you. They will say why is it you, a small boy dictating to us. How old are you? How come it is you that will make things happen? But with God we made things happen. That is why I cannot do anything but to be glorifying God everytime, for this journey, up till now”.
All those who knew what Joga Orile looked like 20 years ago, now marvel at what it looks like today, in terms of Growth and Development. What are the specific infrastructures that Oba Adekeye has attracted to the town? “I always call myself, A fi eniyan, mi mo, se oro meaning I make good use of my relationship and closeness to people I know. I make sure that they help us create weath in Joga Orile. Here in Joga Orile, I have brought my friends and associates who are not even indignes to come and help us with projects and they always heed my call. Different people that I don’t even know usually come and see me to ask, what do you want us to do for you in Joga Orile.
