Olori Ashabi is a beautiful Abuja celebrity woman who is blessed with a great sexy figure. She is a stylish woman who spends a lot on her outfits. She is particular about her looks and she is one lady who can’t be caught not glamorously dressed, except when she is on site working. So, whenever she steps out, she is forever gorgeous.
But Olori Ashabi is not about looking good alone. She is a brilliant businesswoman who is doing so well, handling big-digit contracts for the federal government.
She is also into humanitarian efforts, as she constantly touches the lives of the poor and less privileged.
Last week, she visited City People Gbagada Office to collect her 2021 City People Fashion Award plaque during which she spoke about her success story. Below are excerpts.
Tell us about Queen Ashabi?
My name is Queen Ashabi, I am Ashabi Tejuosho, actually but I have been silent on the Tejuosho for a little while now. I don’t know if you know about the fracas going on online for some months now, hence my using Queen Ashabi. But we are trying to resolve it. I am a mother of 2 boys. They live in Canada. I am the MD of Harlems Integrated Services, it is a Construction Company that started with dredging way back 2009. I am a major Contractor with Ecological Farm Office. My company is very good with solving issues with floods, erosion and all of that.
Tell us about your humanitarian services?
Yes, on my own actually because I don’t have a registered N.G.O. I do Humanitarian Services in my own little way. I did one recently in Nassarawa State. It is a boundary between Nassarawa and FCT Garki. I got a contract with the Niger Delta Ministry Staff Cooperative, they needed 500 housing units. So I went there with my surveyor and saw a woman drinking mud water with 5 of her children, it was on Children’s Day and this made me cry so I had to do a bore hole water system a week later.
Can you tell us about your business?
I started up early because I had always wanted to be a boss of my own. I did my first contract at age of 18 with the Nigerian Navy. Admiral Adekeye was the Chief of Army Staff, he is from Kwara State, he gave me my 1st contract to supply furniture to NNS Square and then registered my first business name at age 18 and then in 2009, I migrated to Harlem Unlimited Liability Company. I have had contracts with the Army, Shells, NEDC and so many others.
How did you develop your confidence to achieve all this?
I started having kids early. I got into the University at age 16 and had my first son at 17. Then, in my 3rd year in the University, I had my 2nd son. This gave me a push, because the father of my kids used to beat me up, he gave me the drive and push. I was a victim of domestic violence. I was also left with the option of taking care of my kids myself and I did not want to work in a company and earn salary with two kids. I later got married again in 2018 when my 2nd son was 14. I wanted to groom them to be men before I start having other kids. My inspiration comes from seeing women like Folorunsho Alakija, Dazi Danjuma who is like a godmother to me. I want to be like them but not to go into politics.
Why don’t you want to go into politics?
I don’t like politics because it will make you tell lies. It will make you say things you cannot fulfill and when you as a good person tries to come in to do good, people will begin to be like a woman is doing what a man who has been there for long couldn’t achieve. I don’t want people to kill me or come after me. That is why I cannot go into politics but I intend to go fully into Humanitarian Services, to register my N.G.O. and have time for it. So in 2 to 3 years I will have time for it.
Tell us about your love for fashion?
People actually ask how I combine it because I go to site I don’t just sit in the office. I just love fashion because when you work hard you tend to make yourself happy. I think what makes me happy is shopping that is the only time I feel fulfilled, not like material things makes me feel fulfilled but sometime been on the site, I breakout with pimples, sunburn and all of the that. So, I don’t want people to see as that alone but as someone that can also look good. I love fashion a lot and luxury brands.
Can you give us a recap of your last birthday celebration?
With the turnout I felt so happy, fulfilled and so loved especially with the presence City People team. I was honoured with my post on your Instagram pages and your attendance. I am planning my 40th birthday soon and it will be a bomb God keep us alive. I rearly celebrate my birthday like, the last one was impromptu. Like on the 7th of May, I got a contract worth of 4 billion naira, and this was a contract I have been fighting to win for months.
When I got the call I was like I should appreciate myself and celebrate myself.
How do you feel about your fashion award from City People?
I feel so happy with this and I say thank you to City People team and Dr. Seye Kehinde. God bless you, City People will continue to grow globally. I really appreciate this because you appreciate people and you give people awards based on merit so I say thank you.
