Taiwo Hassan, the Nollywood actor popularly known as ‘Ogogo’, has died at age 66.

Jide Kosoko, fellow Nollywood actor and close associate of Ogogo, confirmed the death to TheCable Lifestyle on Sunday.

According to Seun Oloketuyi, the Nollywood film producer, the dead actor will be buried by 10 am on Monday.

The burial prayer will be at Asade Agunloye Pavilion in Ogogo’s hometown of Ilaro, Ogun.

Ogogo’s death comes a week after his daughters announced he was battling stage four cancer.

The family said the condition was discovered just three weeks before the announcement, and it affected the actor’s abdomen.

Ogogo’s daughters revealed that some medical institutions said they could no longer conduct chemotherapy on him. The ladies had pleaded with the public to help recommend other means of treatment for their father.

Ogogo is considered a veteran in the Yoruba section of Nollywood, with decades of experience across theatre and cinema.

He began his acting career in 1981 while working simultaneously as an auto-mechanic at the Lagos State Water Corporation. However, he focused exclusively on acting from 1994.

Ogogo became a household name for his role in ‘Owo Blow’, a home-video hit that was directed by Tade Ogidan in 1996.

He went on to feature in hundreds of movies over his 40-plus years on screen.
