This is the story of the forthcoming Ankara Amala Fuji Party being planned by 2 lovely Lagos babes, Defunke Adewumi and Abimbola Adeniran. It is intended to be an Ankara Party of over 100 guests that will attend in different styles. It is slated for June 1st at Jerome’s Garden at Opebi, Ikeja, Lagos.
What are guests to expect? What is the idea all about? According to Defunke, my friend, Abimbola Adeniran had the idea and ran it through me that people are bored and we should organise an outing and we raised a team and we started off.”
“The Ankara Amala Fuji Party is just an avenue to come and unwind and have the craziest fun. We will be wearing a uniform Ankara that we popularly called Aso Ebi And as people know, there is no party in Nigeria without Amala.”
“We are professionals and top-rated business people. And we hardly have time to unwind. So this is a good place and opportunity for us to do that. The rate of suicide is on the increase and letting down our air and having fun can suppress so many negative thoughts. There will be Motivational talks. Business Grants, all to support one and another. The idea is to come out and play, but we will still ensure we give support and network for business or career growth. It’s going to be a yearly event…”
Why did they decide to host the event? “My friends and I just wanted an avenue at which we can come together to have fun and we don’t have to be invited to a party. We realised a lot of people are going through one thing or the other, networking is very difficult to achieve and people are bored coupled with the economic diversity attracting a lot of homes and why not celebrate our culture, food in a serene environment and boost business networking and just have fun while at it.
There will be a display of different styles of Ankara which is our very own way of dressing up by over 100 stylish men and women. It is a point where you meet old friends or make new ones
There are 2 of them co-hosting the event. We got Defunke to tell us about the 2 of them. “Bimbola Adeniran and I have so many things in common. We love to hang out. And be happy. And our work schedules make it extremely hard for us to do this. So once we could find time, we would call our friends and we would hang out and have fun. She is in the Military. I am a PR consultant, a Philanthropist, a real estate investor, and an exporter of raw food. You can see that we are busy people. But we need to play so that we don’t get cranky at work and we realize that this is the same for a lot of people in their 30s and 40s.”
“We have a team of coordinators that helped in putting this Ankara and Amala Fuji Party together, so Bimbola and myself won’t take the glory. But all glory goes to God and wonderful people that brainstormed together with us to make this maiden edition a success as you can see.”
