The State chairman of the People’s Democratic Party has called on the Babajide Sanwo-Olu led Government and the Commisioner for Health to take the opportunity of the Coronavirus pandemic to engage traditional medicine practitioners and alternative medicine specialist, in the quest to find a temporary or lasting solution to the fight against the dreadful Covid19 virus.
Doherty said: “I think it is time to engage the trado-medicine practitioners using the network of the National Association of Nigerian Traditional Medicine Practitioners NANTMP who are called “Elewe-omo” in Yoruba language.
Doherty, said looking back at the history of our fore fathers, it was certain that the antidote used to cure various diseases in those days was created by using roots, herbs, leaves and the backs of trees especially when epidemics struck at that time.
“I was trained as an Engineer to always look for lasting solutions to problems and while doing this, we must throw our net wide enough, we might just be lucky.”
The Chinese traditional medicine sector boasts of tremendous results and is $50bn industry at the moment with a lot of successes recorded. The Covid19 pandemic present us with an opportunity to really dig deep and develop our health sector. I hope we will make use of this opportunity to turn things around.
