The 800-sitting-capacity Grand Ball Room of the Eko Hotel & Suites, in Victoria Island, Lagos became a beehive of activity as family, friends, the academia, royal fathers, eminent Nigerians from all walks of life and well-wishers came en masse to celebrate with Engr (Dr) Oladele Amoda on his appreciation & retirement after years of rendering meritorious service at Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC).

CELEBRATOR’S BIOGRAPHY
Engineer Oladele Amoda was born in Ishara Remo Ogun state on 12 October,1956.He attended Moslim College, Ijebu-Ode and later proceeded to the United States (US) where he bagged his first degree in Electrical Engineering from Memphis State University, Tennesse. He later bagged two Master’s Degrees Engineering and Business Administration from UNILAG and ESUT respectively. Dr Oladele bagged an MCs degree in organisation & leadership from the Regis University, Denver Colorado USA. He started his working career in the power industry when he joined the now defunct NEPA as a pupil engineer in 1983.
He served in various capacities within the organisation rising through ranks until his appointment as MD/CEO IN 2011. Engineer Amoda is a well travelled man. He has attended many national and international courses home and abroad. He also attended many seminars in Europe, America, Asia and Africa. He has as well presented papers and delivered lectures in both local and international academic fora. He is a socialite and a great philanthropist of repute. He is a patron to many international organisations among which are the Red-Cross society, Boys Brigade and Olo Youth Foundation. He is happily married and the union is blessed with kids.
ARRIVAL OF GUESTS
The Grand Ball Room of Eko Hotel& Suites was almost filled up by 6pm as guests and staffers of Eko Electricity Distribution Company thronged the venue felicitate with a man, who meritoriously served the organisation for years .
TEE— A ANCHORED
Popular stand up comedian and compere, Tunde Adewale, known as Tee-A was the anchor of the night and he did a fantastic job. His choice of jokes, carriage and delivery were superb as he swept everyone off his/her feet in the hall. He ensured there was no dull moment throughout the duration of the event.
INTRODUCTIONÂ OF GUESTS
After the opening prayer, the anchor kick-started the programme by introducing a few dignitaries who had already taken their seats. .
EVENT PUT TOGETHER BY EKEDC
For contributing his quota to the growth and development of the organisation, the board and management of Eko Distribution Company (EKEDC) deemed it fit to celebrate an icon engineer, Dr Oladele Amoda who served with strength and might .
ABOUT THE CELEBRATOR
Cool calm and collected best describe Engr (Dr) Oladele Amoda. Decked in grey suit and black bow tie he exhibited high level of humility at the event. He was seen moving from one end of the hall to another exchanging pleasantry with guests with utmost humility and thanking them for coming.
IT WAS A 2-1 CELEBRATION
Apart from celebrating his exit from EKEDC, the occasion provided the celebrator an opportunity to launch his autobiography entitled ‘’Forget Not His Benefits’’ It is a book that showcases the lifetime, lifestyle, strengths and weaknesses of Engr (Dr) Oladele Amoda.
ROYALÂ PRESENCE FELT
The appreciation and retirement party of Dr Oladele Amoda was given a touch of Royalty as first class Yoruba Obas also graced the occasion. Oba Rilwan Akniolu, the Kabiyesi of Lagos, came with his entourage to felicitate with the celebrator. Oba Tijani Adetunji Akinloye, the Alaperu of Iperu-Remo, was also on ground at the occasion.
EKEDC BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The celebrator Engr Oladele Amoda, was the MD/CEO of EKEDC and that explained why members board of directors came enmasse to join in the appreciation and celebration of a man, who served the organisation very meritoriously without any form of blemish. They all had good remarks to say about him.
TRIBUTES POURED IN FOR CELEBRATOR
Celebrator’s goodswill and hardwork couldn’t have been overlooked and that explained why, former colleagues and even subordinates at work decided to give their tributes on the night. Large screens were strategically placed at corners of the hall and the tributes were beamed on the screens for guests to conveniently read them.
LAST MAN STANDING
Engineer (Dr) Oladele Amoda happened to be the last man standing out of all staffers who started from the defunct ECN that change to NEPA and PHCN. Until his retirement, he was the only one left as every other person had left before.
HON DESMOND ELLIOT SHOWED LOVE
Representing Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, Actor and Lagos state House of Assembly member, Honourable Desmond Elliot, was on ground and he showed great love.
CELEBRATOR’S AUTOBIOGRAPHY REVIEWED BY OLA ODUTOLA
Professor Konyin Ajayi (SAN) was originally penciled for the assignment, but had to delegate it to another lawyer in person of Ola Odutola because of other pressing engagement. Mr Odutola did justice to the book as he highlighted the strengths and weaknesses in it.
BOOK PRESENTATION BY PASTOR ITUAHIGHODALO
Senior Pastor of Trinity House Church Lekki, Lagos, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, was given the honour to present the book and he did justice to it. He prayed fervently for the celebrator and members his family. The prayers were also extended to the country and everyone present.
CUTTING OF BIRTHDAY CAKE
A gigantic retirement and appreciation cake, which signaled his glorious exit from EKEDC, was cut. Friends, family members well wishers all posed with the celebrator as the anchor supervised the cutting of the cake.
VINTAGE CREW SERENADED GUESTS
Lagos-based music crew was on ground and performed excellently well. It thrilled guests with its modern beats and sounds. It played all through the duration as guests queued to get themselves treated to a buffet.
MAXIMUM SECURITY PROVIDED
Lagos-based private security outfit, Spartans, brought hefty, stern-looking men to man the entrance of the ground ball hall. They ensured the event was hitch-free with the way and manner they handled security.
