At the just-concluded 6th City People Real Estate Awards held at 10 Degrees Event Centre at Oregun, Hajia Tai Elemosho-Okesanjo shone like a thousand stars, as she stormed the ceremony with close to 50 quality guests, who came to celebrate with her. She won an award for her remarkable performance in the Construction industry. Not many know that she is a Construction giant. She is a big Lagos State government Contractor. And she has been at it for over 20 years. She is the MD/CEO of MONTAI Nig. Ltd.
When her name was called to come up stage for her award, the hall erupted in cheers, for this woman who also owns a big boutique called MONTAI, on Toyin Street, Ikeja. That is why whenever her name gets mentioned, one thing that readily comes to mind is her Shoe & bag business. At her boutique called MONTAI on the popular Toyin Street in Ikeja, Lagos she sells good quality Shoes & Bags for both Male & Female. It was K1 that made her name popular when he sang a special song which soon became an anthem.
But City People can authoritatively reveal to you that Alhaja Montai is more than just your run-of-the-mill boutique owner. She plays big in Construction. She has a big company called Montai Nigeria Ltd. which is into the Construction of Roads and Building.
She is also into the construction of homes, renovation of homes, street lights, facility management and lots more. She has been into construction for over 20years and she has handled so many projects like schools roofing work and Transformer installation. And wait for this. She does facility management also. She is a big contractor for LASG and over the past 20 years or so, she has built residential estates for LASG. She has a lot to show in terms of projects done by Montai Nig. Ltd. She has built several terrace houses over the last 8 years. When City People stumbled on the list of projects we were shocked. This Lagos socialite and APC Chieftain bought the property hosting her shop(where she sells top quality shoes and bags) after having being a tenant for 20 years(since 1999). She bought the building from the landlord at an undisclosed amount of money which is huge. So, now with the purchase, the whole house now belongs to the pretty lady K1 nicknamed Alhaja Tai in one of his songs in which he praise sang her several years ago. Unknown to many people, Montai who is a Mass Comm. graduate of UNILAG often shocks many when they find out she’s a big real estate player in Lagos. People are always impressed when they get to know that she has a construction company with many workers and the company has constructed a lot of estates around Lagos. She is one of the big building contractors to the Lagos state government. She sees the successful purchase of the building hosting her shop as a major breakthrough because it is a prime property located on a high street, Toyin Street in the Ikeja area of Lagos.”I take it as a gratitude to God that where one was a tenant for the past 20 years has now become mine. It now belongs to me. To God be the glory. “ City People gathered that the purchase of her shop building is an addition to her other properties around Lagos. The building is massive. It’s a one storey commercial building with additional 2 or 3 bedroom flats at the back. Work is ongoing to give the building a new look as from April 1 2019.
