•As Little Kids In IBADAN Very Many Years Ago
This is the story of 2 beautiful society women called Tina Ogundoyin and Ayo Julius. They share a very good relationship that even some blood sisters don’t share. The kind of love they show towards each other is second to none. Tina Ogundoyin and Ayo Julius have been friends since their secondary school days when they had not even thought of getting married or having kids by then.
They share a very strong bond that even when Ayo Julius relocated to Lagos and Tina Ogundoyin was still in Ibadan, there friendship was still very strong. You need to see the kind of joy and happiness Tina expressed at Ayo Julius son’s wedding some weeks ago. The happiness was clearly written on her face that you would think she is the groom’s mother.
It is right to call them sisters because they are very close and they have come a long way, supporting each other through thick and thin.
Another thing that would strike you when you meet this two is their beautiful face and skin. These two friends have a good fashion sense and they wear best fabrics and best collection of jewelry. They are always one of the best dressed at any event they attend. Despite the fact that they are grandma’s they still dress gorgeously to parties. When you see them together, you will pray to God to give you a very good friend like these two.
A few weeks back at Ayo Julius son’s engagement ceremony, Chief Mrs. Tina Ogundoyin spoke with City People’s Society Reporter, TOYIN OGUNDIYA, on how she has remained friends with Ayo Julius since their childhood days.
Tell us about your relationship with Ayo Julius?
We have been friends for a very long time. We started at Ibadan. We were friends from school. Both of us attended St. Theresa’s College, Ibadan. Her senior sister also attended the same school. We have been friends before we even thought of getting married. It is a very long history. We are more than friends. We are now sisters. We are one big family.
What year was that?
I can’t really say, but we became friends in the early 70’s. It is been a very long time. I won’t refer to her as a friend, we have become family.
From what we heard, you are into Oil & Gas. For how long have you been doing the business?
Well, I have been on it for like 3 to 4 decades, and there has been no change. We move the way it is moving and it is a profitable business.
You are a grandma, but you still look very young and beautiful, how does that make you feel?
Well, it is the God’s grace. Like I said earlier, we shouldn’t put too much burden on our head. Do your best and leave the rest for God and don’t stress yourself unnecessarily. Secondly, the youth of nowadays, the way we bring them up is not the way our own parent brought us up. Then we were always seen working and moving from one place to another. We are very hardworking, but that is not the same way we bring up our children now.
For instance, the world has really changed to the extent that you can do almost everything with your phone without going out for a month. You can run your business with your phone and it has really made some of the youths so lazy. But as for me, it is good to excercise the body, that is, when we walk from one place to another to keep the body and soul together.
And it is just few people that have that gift. So I bless God for that.
What is the secret of your ageless skin?
To God be the glory, it is God. And when you don’t carry a lot of burden on your head, do your best and leave the rest, take a lot of water and make sure you have to relax, when you do all that, everything will be fine.
Let us talk about the fashion aspect. You are a fashionista. Where does the inspiration come from?
To God be the glory.
What is your advice for the youth as regards how to maintain their marriage?
Well, we have to advice them and coupled with prayers, because marriage is a very good thing and we have to advice them to stay in their marriage. They should also listen to their parents. The only person that cannot advice them wrongly is their parents. So they should always listen to their parents. They should do what it takes to stay in marriage or courtship. I can’t take this, I can’t cope with that will not work in marriage.
