by Asabe Ndoma

As the political atmosphere in the country heats up, the Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has denied endorsing any political aspirant ahead of the upcoming elections.

The State Government described the report circulating on social media as misleading and a figment of the imagination of its authors, urging the public to disregard the story.

In a statement issued by the States commissioner for Information, Mallam Ahmed Maiyaki, the Government clarified that Governor Uba Sani has not endorsed, anointed or given preferential support to any aspirant seeking any elective position.

According to the commissioner, the Governor remains a committed democrat who believes firmly in a transparent, free and fair contest and inclusive process that allows party members and stakeholders to determine who emerges as candidates, through the constitutionally established mechanisms of the party.

Mallam Maiyaki emphasised that the Governor is currently focused on delivering good governance and implementing policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of the people of Kaduna state, rather than engaging in premature political endorsements.

The State Government also warned individuals and groups against spreading fake news and politically motivated misinformation, noting that such actions are capable of creating unnecessary tension within the political space and misleading members of the public.

The commissioner urged political actors, supporters and members of the public to verify information from credible sources before sharing it,” responsible communication is essential to maintaining peace and political stability in the state”.

He reaffirmed that Gov Uba Sani will continue to respect the democratic rights of all aspirants and party members, while ensuring that due process and the rule of law guide all political activities.
