Biola Aloba is a popular journalist in Lagos and he currently runs a leading blog. A few days ago, Biola and his family members buried his late mum, Deaconess Jemina Adetoun Lydia Aloba (nee Fetuga) who died on 11th August 2017 at the age of 70. She was buried on Friday 7th September 2017 in Lagos.
Deaconess Jemima Lydia Adetoun Aloba”, was born Caroline “Adetounrera” Omolara Fetuga to Pa ‘Apostle’ Reginald Olaseni Fetuga of the famous “royal family of Fetuga ofIjebu-Ode” in Ogun State.
Her dad was the first court registrar at the High Court of Lagos, Ikeja division. He was a devout Christian till he passed on in 1982. Deaconess Aloba was born in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on November 10, 1946. November 2017 would have been her 71st birthday. On her maternal side, her beloved mother who passed on in 1997 was ‘Mrs. Esther Olufunke Fetuga, nee
George”, a devout and exemplary Christian of blessed memory. Mama’s own dad was “Chief Joseph Olumuyiwa George” of blessed memory. Late Chief J.O George, was actually the “Seriki Oni Gbagbo gbogbo Egbaland” (the head of Christians in the whole of Egbaland). The title was bestowed on him at the Ake Palace by the then paramount ruler ofEgba, the Alake of Egbaland. Deaconess Aloba had an exciting upbringing and life as a young lady.
She was the only daughter of her mother, and her mom doted so much on her and in fact she was the 2nd born amongst 5 brothers. She was a devout Christian all her life and a “prayer warrior to the core”, a gift her mother passed on to her and blessed her with. To her, prayer was like food, it can’t be toyed with in any manner. God deserves our prayers, most especially our gratitude and thanksgiving always. She was a good mother! A true “abiamo”.
She was a trader and entrepreneur, who did well for herself. She had 3 kids, a daughter Oluwatosin and 2 sons Abiola and the last born, late Olakunle Oladipo Akanni Aloba ofblessed memory who passed on a few years ago. All her life she trusted, believed and surrendered everything (all) to her God, whom she trusted implicitly and explicitly. And we take solace in the fact that we are so sure, that she would be part of those at the first resurrection at the 8th dispensation. A very dedicated Christian, who was baptized many years back, her baptismal name was” Jemima”. She would be greatly missed. May her spirit find solace in Abraham’s bosom till we all shall meet again.
