Sunday 17th April, 2022 was a bright day in Epe town of Lagos state. It was a day of joy for the people as it could be clearly seen on their facial expression when they all trooped out in their numbers to grace the massive empowerment programme organized by this hardworking lawmaker,Honourable Sylvester Ogunkelu Oluwadahunsi.
The Honourable, popularly known as Sketel is presently represents the people of Epe Constituency II at the prestigious Lagos State House Assembly. He so much loves his people and he does not hide his feelings on how much he loves them.
His empowerment initiative is top notch and people oriented. It was held at the open field of Eredo Local Government secretariat, in Epe. The programme served as an avenue to reach out to and improve the well-being of people of his beloved community. He gave a sum of N10,000 each to 500 people. He also gave out a long list of items to empower people of the community.
The items he distributed included the following:20 chest freezers, 25 grinding machine, 30 barbing kits made up of clipper and a generating set, 30 sewing machines, 10 gasoline bush cutters, 25 Air dryers, 20 Vulcanizing machine, 10 wheelbarrows and head pans, and safety headgear with reflective jackets.
Both the money and other items were distributed in such a way that it covered beneficiaries across the entire 11 wards that made up the constituency.
In addition, at the venue of the ceremony, a Medical outreach was done for the elderly that have health challenges.
Qualified medical personnel were seated under the strategically erected tent to attend to beneficiaries and issue them available drugs when needs arise.
Ogunkelu had previously carried out quite a number of laudable projects in Epe. He embarked on renovation and building of class rooms in 4 schools within Epe. He distributed JAMB forms to no fewer than 950 students aspiring for tertiary education and financed free JAMB Coaching Classes for them.
The honourable also gave full scholarship to 10 students to study at the Lagos State University, and another full scholarship to 3 students at the University of Cyprus.
All these are a few of what he has done within the duration of 3 years and 7 month spent in office as a state lawmaker.
When Citypeople inquired about what informed this act of benevolence, Ogunkelu responded that his humble beginning got him to understand the plight of his people and saw the need to assuage them of it thereby putting smile on their faces by empowering them in his own little way, being just a state lawmaker with little resources at his disposal. Meanwhile, he has promised to embark on more impactful projects in the future.
The philanthropic gesture of the law maker was far reaching; no wonder the ceremony was well attended by all the traditional rulers in Epe. Also storming the venue were top dignitaries and politicians of Epe origin. Notable among them are apex APC leader in Epe Division, Alhaji Akanni Seriki Bamu, party leader, Alhaji Wasiu Odeyemi WASTAB; Lagos state House of Assembly Member representing Kosofe Constituency I, Hon. Ganiyu Babatunde Okanlawon Sanni; Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs Margaret Adeseye; Executive Chairman of Ikosi Ejinrin, Honourable Wale Raji Anomo; Executive Chairman Epe LG, hon. Surah Opeyemi Animashaun; Surveyor Abdul Jeleel Olayemi; Hon. Bola Badejo; Party chairman Eredo lcda, Alh. Mohammed Agbaraojo; Alhaji Ade Olaniyi Kehinde; Hon. Barrister Olagunsoye ably represented by Chief Mrs Giwa; party prominent leader, Alhaji Nurudeen; Sikiru Babatunde Jimoh; Party Woman Leader in Eredo, Alhaja Olayemi; Hon. Bamidele Witu; Chief Toyin Gbadamosi, Bamidele Ajenifuja; Chief Shakirudeen Adebanjo; and Honourable. Jelil Saliu.
Also worthy of note is the massive attendance of leaders and party faithfuls recorded. They all came from across the entire 11 wards that made up Epe Constituency II. Making further inquiries and opinions sampling, beneficiaries were fully grateful to the honourable. They promised to make good use of the items they were given and by extension use them to create wealth and make life meaningful to them.
Spicing up the event was the scintillating performance by Osanladugbo Dance group. They entertained the large crowd with their songs and lovely cultural dance steps.
