Often times, we are so focused on the now we forget the future. You eat an apple and throw the core away, depending on where the seed land, it may germinate and become an apple tree that will bear fruit for years to come.
You threw the seed away to get rid of something you considered worthless, unmindful of where it landed, whether on good soil or stony soil. This simple analogy depicts the actions of many. We do and say things without been cognizant of the full impact of our actions In the now or the future. Whether good or bad, it is a seed and it will surely bear fruit.
That person you accused falsely and caused sorrow, went to jail and derailed their destiny.
I often take inventory of my actions and words and then take the necessary steps to make amends, for the sake of not just my future but that of my children. If I sow bad seeds, trust me, those seeds will bear fruit and my generation will eat from that tree until Jesus curses the tree to wither.
I always remind myself of what caused Saul to fall from the place of glory and his place given to David. Saul’s kingship was taken from him and his generation forever, because of the singular act of either ignorance or self righteousness. He ascended the place of a priest, decided what was best for God by sparing the life of King Agah, as if that wasn’t bad enough, he didn’t wait for the return of Samuel, then offered an unlawful sacrifice. His generation was wiped out except for one that became lame. Yet David’s place in Israel and Judah was forever established. To this day, the Star of David is a reference for Judaism and the temple of Solomon retained its place in history.
Take heed for what you do today, If you do good, do not relent in doing good. If you do bad, repent and turn away from it, good or bad, your action will yield bountiful harvest, and you will eat of the fruit in the future and so will your generation to come and they will bear you witness.
Let us Pray. Father, please help me to remember that everything I do today impacts not only my future but that of my generations to come. Give me the grace to sow good seed so that me and my generation will be established for good now and through duration of mankind.
