On Wednesday, 17th August, 2019, one of the prestigious Clubs in Nigeria, Lions Club International, paid a courtesy visit to No 1 and oldest soft-sell Magazine, City People at the Headoffice Gbagada in Lagos.
Led by the District Governor, Lion Wesley O. Kafidiya, the club came calling to appreciate the invaluable support of the Publisher, Dr. Seye Kehinde and the entire team of City People and to solicit continuity of the partnership in the coming years and for the new regime. In his words Kafidiya said, “We appreciate you, your support and work over the years. We felt it would be nice for us to come and to show our appreciation. Your immense contribution over the years gladdens our hearts and assures us of more years of partnership that will prove to be of good mileage and visibility for us, the district, in particular, and for lionism in Nigeria in general. We are here to let you know our activities for the next few months. We would like to reveal to you some of the things that will be available for reference even in our absence; to know what we are doing and how we are looking forward to a stronger partnership with you. Your reception has assured us that we have not come in vain, and we appreciate it”. After the Governor’s speech, he presented a brochure to the Publisher. It was to keep him and his entire team abreast of the yearly activities of the club. The brochure contains a calendar of the club’s activities, he said.
The 2nd segment of the visit was the decoration of the Publisher with the Club’s Lapel.
In a brief speech after the decoration, the Governor said: “I’ve also been mandated by the DGT to decorate you with our Lapel Pin. In Lionism, Lapel Pin symbolizes, epitomizes its plans. If you look at the pin and take it along with the acceptance speech, you will have an idea of where we are heading to for the year. We believe that what you did, the service you rendered is not the ultimate, but the spirit with which you went about it”. There is need to be loved in all that you do; do what you love and love what you do, and that is what we have behind this small pin. It will be a great pleasure, and on behalf of my team to decorate you with it. And we will appreciate you to always wear it with pride”.
Among the executive members who came with the District Governor, Lion Wesley O. Kafidiya were: Lion Ademola Adesoye (1st Vice District Governor), Lion Engr.
