Behind every successful man is a woman and that goes beyond the marriage between Celebrity pastors, Wale and Laolu Adefarasin. Theirs is a marriage that many grin with envy because it has stood the test of time for over 30 years. Pastor Wale Adefarsin’s wife might not be your regular face around but to her members and within the Christian faith, she is well grounded.
She seldom attends events alone and when you see her, you will see her mostly in the company of her husband. She stepped out few weeks back at the Sijuwade and Folawiyo’s children wedding and she was looking very beautiful. Her family shares a very close friendship with the Sijuwades. She was also one of the VIP guests at Olori Ladun Sijiwades 60th birthday in Lagos. The woman who loves to adore her lovely skirt suit pieces and hair fascinators instead of native wears looked elegant at her sons wedding 2 years back. The blue colour code for the Sijuwades wedding looked well on her and complimented her dark skin. She was seen with Olori Ladun Sijuwade and other friends of hers. Her husband Wale Adefarasin pastors a church of vibrant youth and potential adults. He is the General Overseer of Guiding Light Assembly, a non-denominational church with branches in Lagos, Abuja and London. He is a social entrepreneur, author, TV presenter, and thought leader. He is the convening apostle of the Nigeria Coalition of Apostles, an affiliate of the International Coalition of Apostles and leads a number of pastor’s networks. Married to Laolu Adefarasin in 1985 and their 32 years union has produced three children.Their first son Ademola got married in a spectacular wedding in faraway Italy 2 years back.Their last son is a gospel entertainer and they also have a lovely daughter as well. The woman who did not marry her husband as a pastor met him while he was doing his business and attending the church like everyone else and along the line, he joined the pastoral ministry and was ordained and later became General Overseer of the ministry. She was staying in London for so many years, came back to Nigeria and started practicing law.She is a graduate of Law from a renowed university. She later dumped the wig and gown career and faced the pastoral work of her husband squarely.
The beautiful woman whom many look up to as their role model started the women ministry in 2002, Morning Glory, an early morning prayer session that holds between 7-8am every Tuesday from which the OASIS Ministry came forth. She has been the front runner in the women ministry and takes up leadership and motivating speaking roles at seminars, events and major Christian forums. In one of her interviews ,she bared her mind on what has sustained her marriage for that long, “Success in marriage is a function of the woman of the house. The Bible makes it clear that a wise woman builds her house. It means a woman needs wisdom to be successful in her role as a wife and mother, not degrees, official positions or beauty. There is no way a lady will truly submit to her husband that her husband will not love her. Pride of any sort leads to divorce. It is the bitter truth.A woman needs to know all about her husband’s taste and mannerisms and then tailor her behaviours to please him. Even where there are differences, to settle them will not pose a big challenge on this platform of understanding. She must learn to submit to her husband for there can never be two husbands in the home.
The dress sense of a woman should be simple but appealing all the time, so as not to be repulsive to her husband. When it comes to things of ladies, men first “walk by sight”. What they see greatly appeals to them. Marriage takes patience, wisdom and willingness of both parties to succeed. The woman is, however, the key factor.
She also runs the ,The vintage shop which was established to cater for the material needs of church members at very low prices, Items display for sale include household and kitchen utensils, clothing for children and adults, shoes of all sizes including English wears which are always in stock. Some of the materials are fairly used but are quality materials. Some are also brand new local clothing materials often sewn to taste by putting her foundation” Changing Our World Foundation into the limelight helping the less privileges.
