You will recall that when the Ogun State Governor, Dr Dapo Abiodun assumed office, he said in one of his interviews that women will play key and vital roles in his government. This he has been doing as he gave female politicians huge roles to play, especially the veterans and those who stood by him during his campaign. Some of these women have been given appointments and some are caretakers of some commissions. Bunmi Mustapha brings you the list of the powerful women who are playing roles in Governor Abiodun’s government.
IYABO APAMPA
Mrs Iyabo Apampa is a veteran Politician, a philanthropist and businesswoman. She is the founder of Iyabo apampa-touch-lives Foundation, a group catering for the less privileged in the society. She is one of the strong female politicians in Ogun State, although she was one time a PDP member before she joined the Dapo Abiodun’s campaign train and she has since then been playing a meaningful role in the government.
ALHAJA SALMOT BADRU
 Alhaja Salmon Badru was a two-term Deputy Governor of Ogun State, during Otunba Gbenga Daniel’s administration. The Yewa-born veteran politician is one of the strong loyalists of OGD, having run the state with him for eight years. She joined Dapo Abiodun’s campaign train few months to the last election and since then she has been very relevant in the present government.
BUKKY ONABANJO
Bukky Onabanjo is the daughter of the first civilian governor of Ogun State, late Olabisi Onabanjo. She is also the former Chairman of TESCOM, she is one of the female politicians in Dapo Abiodun’s government. This is because of her age and experience, also her father’s name and reputation speak for her. She plays a major role in Dapo Abiodun’s government.
HON. FUNMI AFUAPE
Hon Funmi Afuape is the former chairman of Sagamu Local Government. She was an arrowhead in the Yayi for Governor campaign which metamorphosed into Dapo Abiodun’s campaign train. This beautiful female politician of repute played a key role in leading the women towards the success of Dapo Abiodun’s governorship election and till date she still plays the role of a women leader across the State. Her effort and huge role in the present government can not be ignored.
HON. ADIJAT ADELEYE OLADAPO
Two-term Ogun House of Assembly member, Hon Adijat Adeleye Oladapo otherwise known as ADJ is another female politician playing a key role in Dapo Abiodun’s government. She is unarguably the highest-ranking politician among the women who have been with Dapo Abiodun before the election and she has been playing “key role since she joined the Dapo Abiodun’s political family. She is one of the strongest female politicians in Ogun State who are also veterans in the Ogun State political sector.
HON. TITI OSENI GOMEZ
Hon Titi Oseni Gomez was a one-time former speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly. She contested for the Ogun Central Senatorial seat but was defeated by Senator Ibikunle Amosun in the last election. Few days after the senatorial election, she dumped ADC where she contested to join Dapo Abiodun’s campaign train. Although rumour has it that she has been in closed-door meetings with the Dapo Abiodun’s team before she lost the senatorial elections. She is one of the women who play big roles in Dapo Abiodun’s government today.
FEMI ILORI
Femi Ilori once aspired to represent Abeokuta South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives election, but could not clinch the ticket under ACN. She was later appointed as a member of the state House of Assembly Commission. She dumped Senator Ibikunle Amosun caucus to join the Yayi for Governor campaign, then later joined the Dapo Abiodun’s campaign train. She is one of those who play a big role in Governor Abiodun’s government.
YETUNDE ADESANYA
Yetunde Adesanya is one of the seven-member commission Governor Abiodun just inaugurated to oversee the activities of the Judicial arm of government in the state. She is a strong female politician from Odogbolu.
AREWA OLAOTAN
Arewa Olaotan is the wife of Governor Abiodun’s Special Adviser on Government House, Hon. Babatunde Olaotan, popularly called HBO. She also plays a role in Dapo Abiodun’s government.
KIKE DELANA
Kike Delana is a former SLG of Ifo Local Government, she aspired to run for the House of Representatives but could not clinch the ticket. She was one of the groups of female politicians who joined Dapo Abiodun’s campaign train.
HON. NIKE OSOBA
Hon. Nike Osoba was a special adviser to Governor Amosun on women affairs. She joined Dapo Abiodun’s campaign train shortly after she was denied ticket to run for the House of Assembly under Amosun’s caucus.
HON FOLAKEMI AKINTAYO
She is an immediate past member of the State House of Assembly. She represented Yewa South state constituency, she was a strong member of Abiodun Akinlade group before she joined Dapo Abiodun’s campaign.
OLUKEMI ADEOGUN
Kemi Adeogun is from Ado-Odo Ota, she was a member of Yayi camp, before she joined Dapo Abiodun’s campaign train.
MRS DAUDA
Mrs Dauda is a very close friend of the wife of the Governor, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, she also plays a key role in Ogun State Government.
TOYIN JEKAMI
Toyin Jekami is a woman leader in Sagamu, and she plays, a role in Dapo Abiodun’s government.
ALHAJA FAIDAT SARUMI
Alhaja Faidat Sarumi was a special adviser to Otunba Gbenga Daniel, she is one of the late entrants into Dapo Abiodun’s campaign train.
ALHAJA ABISOLA ALIU
Alhaja Abisola Aliu was a strong politician during Otunba Gbenga Daniel’s administration, she later joined the Yayi movement, but she is now with Governor Abiodun. She was one of those who organised the Ogun State 2019 Hajj pilgrims.
ALHAJA ADEYEMO
Alhaja Adeyemo is one of the women leaders from Odeda area of Ogun State.
CHIEF MRS ABOSEDE
Chief Mrs Abosede popularly known as Villa A is another strong female politician in Ogun State. She is a former senatorial woman leader and a strong woman in Osoba’s camp.
PRINCESS SOTE
Princess Sote is from Ijebu-Ode, she was a former appointee of Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
ALHAJA AWOFESO
She is the wife of the former Secretary of ACN, and she also plays a role in Dapo Abiodun’s government.
SHOLA AROBIEKE
Shola Arobieke is from Odogbolu area of Ogun State and she is currently the special adviser to Governor Abiodun on commerce and industry.
SOLA ELEGBEJI
Sola Elegbeji is one of the seven-member commission Governor Abiodun just inaugurated to oversee the activities of the judicial arm of government in the state. She is a powerful female politician from Sagamu.
