Read on. It is an interesting Interview.
How true is the news making the rounds that you are contesting?
It is on record that I traversed 103 wards, 9 Local Government Areas and 1,135 polling booths twice in 2019 when I contested as a senatorial candidate to represent the people of Ogun East. Although I lost, I am happy that I won the hearts of people and that gives me joy.
Aside from that, my footprints are still there for people to see, thousands of people who benefited from my kind gesture through the EDA Empowerment Foundation programme across the senatorial district are clamoring for me to throw my hat in the ring again, due to my numerous achievements as an individual then. They believe if I have the opportunity to represent them at the National Assembly, I will attract infrastructural development to the district. Having said that, it is not yet time for politicking, but consultations are ongoing among all the stakeholders. At the appropriate time, I shall make my decision known concerning the 2023 elections.
Tell us a bit about your plans
Ans: As you’re aware, the main function of a legislator is to make laws for the good and smooth running of the government. If I decide to accede to the request of the good people of Ogun East Senatorial District, I will ensure that I assist them in passing a bill that would be of benefit to the district. Like I said before, I will not be an Abuja senator, I shall be organising constant meetings with my constituents to brief them on my activities on the floor of the National Assembly. Welfare packages for the aged, provision for girls, child rights, infrastructural development, youth empowerment, Support for Micro, Small & Medium Sizes Enterprises (MSMEs) with access to funds and more of Federal government projects
amongst others shall be my priority.
I recall in 2019, when I visited the erosion ravaged Owakurudu community in the Ijebu Ode area of Ogun State, I promised them that if I am elected, I will use every means to get ecological intervention funds for the community.
Aside from that, Ogun State is lucky to have a good Governor in the person of Prince ( Dr) Dapo Abiodun, MFR who has a listening ear, I will ensure that I deliberate with him also to have synergy to fast-track the needed development to my district.
