On Saturday, 29th January 2022, Ooni of Ife’s sister, Princess Adesola Ogunwusi Soremekun, popularly called Yeye 2, clocked 50.
Her plan was to have a quiet celebration, but her husband, Prince Ayoola Soremekun, popularly known as Moschino, decided to show her love and make her feel loved by throwing a surprise birthday party for her at their lovely Lekki residence, in Lagos.
The event turned out to be well planned, with quite a number of prominent socialites and businessmen, including technocrats, politicians, entertainers, business associates, socialites, and traditional rulers.
The event started with a surprise visit by Princess Adesola’s siblings, Princess Folasade, Princess Adebimpe, and Prince Tunji with a couple of friends who observed the Morning Devotion with the family.
That Princess, Adesola, has done quite well for herself would be simply stating the obvious, considering the love and care that was shown to her on that special day.
The birthday celebration was a small, but classy type, as the celebrant was treated to a memorable event by all her loved ones. The guests who were no more than 100 at the event were all dressed glamorously in honour of the great woman whose tribute inspired many as a humble, kind and loving princess, mother and friend.
Glamorous in their resplendent outfits, the guests were quite appreciative and cautious of the dinner plan trickling in at exactly 5pm the scheduled time to honour a trailblazer.
The dignitaries were successful men and women from various sectors: banking to the judiciary; politics, culture, arts, etc.
The congratulatory message to the celebrant aptly captures the sentiments that flowed from the testimonies given by family members, friends and ex-students in acknowledgement of her impact on the school.
And then a toast to the celebrant followed by picture sessions. Thrilled and overwhelmed, Yeye 2 was left speechless when asked to say a few words to the gathering. In the end, it was a time well shared together celebrating a woman who has distinguished herself over the years in the social and cultural space.
Among her many relatives, distinguished friends and guests that graced the occasion were Nollywood actress, Bimbo Akinsanya, Princess Ronke Ademiluyi, Yeye Lara Fashola-Famimokun, Yeye Kehinde Oladini Bamgboye and many more.
