Billionaire Philanthropist and Antarctica explorer Prince Ned Nwoko keynote address at the ongoing Future of Sports in Africa – Post Covid-19, organized by Africa Sports Ventures Group and Unesco which started yesterday 24th May, 2020. The founder of the first Sports university in Africa, Stars University Idumuje-Ugboko explained that early Preparation and Catching them young can guarantee make Africa compete favorably at the global stage.
One of the reasons why I set up the Star university is to encourage joint honors to attract our young people that they can study conventional courses alongside sports related courses. In an exclusive video during the online sports conference he noted that before he started Stars University, he had to embark on trip to different countries of the world to see some of the world class universities with their facilities which is the standard he wants to replicate here in Delta State with Stars University.
He concluded by saying sports development in Africa must be a collaboration effort between the government and private sector and he discouraged the idea of our athletes coming to camp in two months for preparation of a major tournament like Olympic.
