You clocked 60 on 9th February, what does turning 60 mean to you?
First and foremost, I remain absolutely grateful to the Almighty God, who has shown me mercy and love through the ages till this very auspicious moment of my life. Indeed, the grace of the Lord has been sufficient for me, and it has kept me alive to celebrate my 60th birthday this day. So I rejoice in Him only, and praise His holy name for the uncommon favour, and infinite mercy He has shown me, and still showing me. With all honesty, I can boldly say that “turning 60 is the greatest testimony of my life.”
What are your reflections over life at 60?
My reflections are so many, that it will take days to summarise them; because so much water had passed under the bridge, in the last 60 years, but I thank God I’m still standing. Indeed, I have passed through the water, the river, and the fire, (according to Isaiah 43:2), but the infinite mercy, and the sufficient Grace of God has seen me through the bad, the good, and the ugly period.
I will cap my journey, my reflections from the past 60 years with the word of God in Psalm 34:19, that, “many are the afflictions (troubles) of the righteous, but the mercy of the Lord delivers me from them all.”
You talk so religiously, are you a pastor?
My husband is a Pastor with the Redeemed Church. We pastor a church here in UK. I’m a minister of God, and one of my sons is also a Pastor.
The impression out there is that it is somehow difficult for one to a pastor and still be active in politics?
That is part of the work God asked us to do; but we must make a difference wherever we go just like the word of God says in Matthew 5:14. That we are the light of the world, and we should let our light shine (as children of God amongst others), so that people will see our good works, and glorify our Father in heaven.
And that’s how I’ve been relating with people in politics by His grace.
What is the biggest lesson life has taught you at 60?
To be yourself, accept whatever thing that comes your way in faith; and be closer to God.
Is turning 60 going to change anything about you?
Yes. To be more closer to God, my family, and humanity.
Would you say you are fulfilled at 60?
Absolutely! What else can I asked God for. I’m still standing, regardless, in good health. I am blessed with good supportive, caring family, both immediate and spiritual. Everything anyone can wish for, God has blessed me with. And more importantly, my relationship with God is sealed. I can’t be more fulfilled.
Why did you choose to celebrate your 60th birthday abroad?
Yes, because it is my family (both immediate and spiritual) abroad that wants to celebrate the glory of God upon my life at 60.
At 60, you don’t look your age all, you could be passed for a woman in her 40s. What is the secret behind your youthful looks?
The glory of God, and inner peace.
You mean different things to different people; an activist, pastor, a businesswoman and a politician. Who really is Kemi Adesanya-Eboda?
Kemi Adesanya-Eboda is a person whom God had blessed with many talents. I thank God for my Parents who had foreseen the task ahead of me, and raised me to be an independent person, and an entrepreneur. So, I often take advantage of any opportunity that comes my way, by the help of the Almighty God.
So being a minister of God compelled me to be a politician, and an activist, when the opportunity arises, so that my light can shine amidst the darkness, and I can also make a good impact as a child of God.
How do you juggle between all these your many endeavours and the home front?
Because my family has always been supportive and accommodating. Whenever I come through a new project, they support me fully. So this made it very easy for me to be able to juggle between being a wife, mother, minister of God, and entrepreneur, and a politician.
