One of her sons, Oluwatoyin wrote a moving tribute in her honour. Titled, “My Mum, My Mum”, he said, “I never knew you would depart this sinful world unnoticed, we still spoke on phone two days to your departure, you didn’t show any sign of tiredness or sickness, I know that you were close to God Almighty, you held Him in high esteem, I know your salvation is sure and not negotiable. I will never forget your advice that all your children must try as much as possible to move close to God Almighty and you made us to understand that God is the ultimate giver and author of life. That our faith must be entrusted in Him always. Your not being economical with the truth shall not escape my memory.
You were so blunt and unassuming! Your belief in equity, justice, and fair play really stood you out among your peers. I knew you as a disciplinarian, you didn’t tolerate nonsense, you were always satisfied with whatever you had. You made us to know that life is not a bed of roses. You were always there for us, your children spiritually, morally, and physically. I will miss you for your prayers, ministrations, and devotions”.
Who is Prophetess Dorcas Oluremi Bayode? We can tell you a lot about her. She was born in 1937 into the family of Bayode Eruku Agbona and Ibileye at Ikeji Ile Ijesa, Oriade South LCDA, Oriade L.G.T, Osun State Nigeria. She attended St. Jude Primary School, Ikeji Ile, she spent only two years at Pre-School Play Group, the pre-requisite to enter standard one at the time. After which she left for Oshogbo to assist her father to sell petty items by way of hawking because her father was an established trader at Station Road, Oshogbo. Having been grounded in the art of trading, she jettisoned school and concentrated on her trading activities. In her quest to expand her business, she left her father, Elder Bayode (a.k.a Mafowurosere) for greener pastures. She followed her uncle, Mr. Oni Ibileye from her maternal side, to the Northern part of the country (Funtua) where she diversified her business to bulk sales of food items. She spent almost all her youthful years in the North. As a result of constant pressure from her father and siblings to return home, she decided to relocate to the South (Ibadan) after she spent a brief period with her father at Oshogbo. In addition, she was more blessed and favoured at Ibadan where she upgraded her business into wholesale of rice, beans and elubo to the extent that she became one of the major distributors of food stuffs to some companies, ministries, agencies, departments, and individuals. Her warehouse and shop was located at Ibikunle Palace, Ayeye, Ibadan. Oyo State.
Nevertheless, Mama’s closeness to God had been inherited from her father, Pa. Bayode who had intimacy with God in his lifetime and it was a routine to do morning devotion and pray for at least three times a day with his family; morning, afternoon, and evening before sleep. In whatever circumstances, fasting was an habit in the family. Having this in her blood made Mama to serve God fervently. Moreover, after she relocated back to Ibadan, she joined C.A.C Idikan, where she participated as one of the choir members, became a Minister, and was ordained as an evangelist. In order to cope with the assignment God wanted to give her, she enrolled for adult education at Ibadan and was taught how to read and write legibly. This helped Mama when she received God’s calling and became a full-fledged prophetess. God used Mama to perform many miracles, signs, and wonders.
With the help of God, Mama was able to float her own church and she became the founder of Christ Revelation Apostolic Church (CRAC) at Laipo Oke Agala, Ayeye and Olaogun Sawmill area at Ibadan. Mama’s closeness, faithfulness, obedience and generosity to God was unquestionable, Mama could do anything to please God, she rolled on the ground to thank and appreciate God’s faithfulness always, her love for God was unparalleled, her ministration on the radio, roads, and revivals were unrivalled. Her common sermon is ETERNITY IS THE GAIN OF BELIEVERS.
Mama did a lot for God and humanity. This made her receive awards and accolades. On Thursday, 28th July at Aged 85. Mama said good bye to this sinful world without any sign of sickness or ailment. Mama was survived by her siblings, children, grand children, and great-grand children. May her soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.
