Most have shared their experiences as the lockdown spiralled down and people became a wee bit more relaxed. The truth be told for all of us, this has been an eye-opener, also a time for self-discovery. We now realise the flip side to the norm as we are forced to actually stagnate and halt our natural lifestyles. As we read through the Scriptures, for example, the story of Daniel, clearly we witness a time when people were actually forbidden to pray through some manipulation geared towards stopping the daily worship. Daniel rather than adopt caution was audacious and chose to fear God rather than the Kings wrath and decree, after many life-threatening punitive measures he scaled through by Divine assistance. Essentially this earned him the Kings respect and qualified him in the Kings opinion, a position in his cabinet. Invariably in reference to present circumstances, basically we are not displaying the spirit akin to that Daniel generation today, having decided to conform and submit to earthly authority, Church inclusive, which is the sign of the times, 21st-century outlook.
This time of introspection and getting in touch with the real has brought with it, countless benefits. A high society lifestyle with stupendous wealth squandering at weddings, funeral birthdays vanished unchecked, with no apologies. New format and realistic alternatives have come into play, with virtual ceremonies being the order of the day, the most dangerous check being death. People who throw caution to the wind by undermining the laws of the land, mostly do not live to share the escapades. Submitting to precautionary authority being the wise option bringing with it the much-anticipated discipline the sustenance and preserving of oncoming generations with a healthy mindset. The gap between the poor and the rich is vast, the insensitivity of the superior class in terms of wealth as it continues is incurring the hatred of the other classes bringing with it a provocation in the similitude of a ticking time bomb. A close observation of horrendous domestic attacks in the home front and externally makes it necessary for a massive check on this lousy, mindless way of living as arrantly demonstrated by our corrupt spendthrift crop of people in the society. They forgetting, obviously oblivious of the fact these people are present witnessing unjust balances lived out so crudely with much audacity.
The Pandemic has proven to us that the rich also cry. To say all rich people are callous is wrong in the same vein we know that wealth does puff up. Our Lord Jesus says it so right when he said if a camel can go through the needle then the rich can enter the kingdom. However, most people were not born rich and for me, God allows the test so we do not forget that the power to get wealth emanates from Gods loving kindness. So the conclusion is that many forgo the humble beginnings and refuse to glorify God with wealth. Another group believe they earned it through hard work, inevitably pride accompanied by callousness is the result they offer to needs and wants where others are concerned. The Pandemic has frozen a great deal in their self-congratulatory stance, even in the hustle we have all had to look around and allude to the fact that a greater power controls the universe.
Hence the song, He’s got the whole world in his hands turned out to be the most popular rendition, sung by stars, Kings, rich and the poor. God still reigns in the affairs of men and turns the tides, Jehovah rules and reigns. Not uncommon to see whole streets and malls engage in worship, as homes become worship centres and literal Churches, a great time to exhale take the breather and simply worship. Life will never be taken for granted with each gift of the day turning out alive has become a delightful surprise a reason to worship the giver of lives. What we have today, is a relatively sane society, where families are getting really acquainted, no one can hide behind the bustling, and it’s the hour of connectivity.
What about kindness? Whilst we still have political givers who give to be seen of men. We have witnessed genuine ones who feed, give palliatives and watch out for their neighbours. Churches, Companies, Individuals, friends and families mostly have done very well. There are some who are hidden in palaces and Presidential palatial homes who have convinced themselves as bitter people that this is a time of revenge. They choose carefully who to help and are condescending as they promise and fail. The truth in most cases is that we have discovered that human kindness exists in all religion. Family, hmm if you read the Bible it tells us a man’s enemies are those of his house. In life and death situation you must know those who genuinely care and some family members have seen it as a time to grovel in hurt and even payback. The maker of all who is the ultimate will judge both the quick and dead. Those who have lived through up till now will have to reassess and revalidate relationships, as anyone who leaves you for dead, can be forgiven but not considered reliable. To those who reached out to strangers, friends families even enemies, May your Labour of Love be rewarded over all that pertains to you in Jesus Matchless Name. Let’s celebrate the living. Thanking God constantly for Life, yours and your family.
