This years annual Ojude Oba festival will hold this week and there are some Ijebu big men who will storm the festival.
They are successful Ijebu elites who love to attend this annual event that affords Ijebu people, especially the regberegbe, an opportunity to pay homage to the Awujale of Ijebu, Oba Sikiru Adetona. Its usually held at the Pavilion, opposite Awujales palace. Usually the Kabiyesi, the Ogun governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, his wife Olufunsho and top dignitaries who the Awujale has invited will be seated on one side of the divide and then after all the Goodwill speeches, the regberegbe age grade groups will file past the Awujale one after the other.
Who are those to watch out for at this years event? One of them is Alhaji Sulaiman Adebola Adegunwa, a big industrialist from Ososa. He is the owner of Fototek and Rite Foods Limited, which today is a foremost indigeneous food and beverage company in Nigeria with its world class factory in Ososa Ijebu. He was the special guest of honour last year.
There will also be a lot of attention on Balogun Agboola Alausa, the Balogun of Ijebu-Ode and Chief Alade Shote, the Otun Balogun of Ijebu-Ode.
Also in attendance will be members of Oba Adetona’s age group like Chief O.B. Okuboyejo and His Royal Highness Oba Shafi Sule.
They all belong to Egbe Mafowoku Ijebu (Egbe Oba). The Awujale is the patron, Oba Sule is the Giwa, Chief Idowu Osifodurin is Akowe Egbe, Gen Secretary, Oluboyejo is Treasurer, Senator Durojaiye is Otun Giwa. Egbe Mafowoku Okunrin is made up of those born between 1st January 1932 and 31st Dec. 1934, Engr Sikirullahi Bosun Oke will be there also he is the Giwa Egbe Bobayo, Architect Bola Ogun, the Alaga, Egbe Bobayo will be there, so also Bobayo Munirudeen Onikosi, the Akowe Egbe.
Of course, a lot of Ijebu Obas will be there like Oba Oguntayo, (The Ajalorun Of Ijebu-Ife); Oba Kasali, (the Moyegeso of Itele); Oba Adekoya, (the Dagburewe of Idowa); Oba Adedeji Onagoruwa, (the Alaiye of Odogbolu), Oba Mosuro (the Olomu of Omu), Oba Abiodun (the Owa of Okun-Owa) Oba Olubanjo (the Obiri of Aiyepe), Oba (Engr) Bashorun (the Oru of Imoru) and Oba (Dr) Alatise (the Gbegende of Osoba). Other Obas are Oba Adenugba, (the Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye), Oba Awobajo (the Limeri Of Awa), Oba Yusuf (the Sopenlukale of Oke-Sopen), Oba Abass (the Bejeroku of Oke Agbo), Oba Onafuwa (Oliworo Of Iworo), and Oba Otukoya (Oligun of Ilugun North).
Former Ogun governor Otunba Gbenga Daniel will be there with his pretty wife Yeye Olufunke. He is the Otunba Obalufon on Ijebuland and Balogun Egbe Bobakeye (Okurin). He is also Baba Egbe Jagunmolu Obinrin (stainless) and Baba Egbe Tobdase Obinrin (Obalofin) Akile Ijebu.
Of course, Otunba Micheal Olasubomi Balogun (CON) the founder of FCMB will be there. He is the Otunba Tunwase and the Oloori Omo Oba Akile Ijebu. He is also the Asiwaju of Ijebu Christians and the Oloori Ebi of Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Ijebu. Otunba Wahab Osinusi will also be there. He is the Chairman of the Ojude-Oba Planning Committee. He is the Chairman Council of Otunbas of Ijebuland. He is Otunba Fidipote. Otunba Bushirat Alebiosu, the Otunba Gbelegbuwa will be there with his wife who is also an Otunba. Otunba Seyi Oduntan (Otunba Osigade) will be there with his wife.
Otunba Abayomi Odunowo will be there with, Biola, is brother who is also an Otunba. They are both sons of Cash Madam, whose real name is Princess Kahadijat Kuburat Adebisi Edionseri. So also Otunba Arowolo (Otunba Afolajoye). Oscar Ibru will also be there. He is an Otunba of Ijebu. He is Otunba Boyejo. His wife Wanda is Yeye Otunba Boyejo former Minister Jubril Martins –Kuye will be there. He is Otunba Fesojoye.
The 3 Ashiru brothers will be there also. They are Otunba Prof. Oladapo Ashiru (Otunba Orobudujoye), Otunba Prof. Oluwatoyin Ashiru (Otunba Moyeges) and Otunba Bimbola Ashiru (Otunba Adeona Fusigboye). He is the Commissioner for Commence and Industry in Ogun State. Otunba Bobayemi Osoba (Dig Rtd) will be there. He is an Otunba.
Of course Otunba Biodun Onanuga is one distinguished Ijebu son to watch. He is Otunba Anikilaya of Ijebuland. He is also Giwa Bobakeye Akile Ijebu. Otunba Ayodeji Osibogun will also be there. He is Otunba Obaloja. He is also Giwa Egbe. Eye specialist Dr. Adekunle Hassan and his wife Adetola will be there. Both are Otunbas.
The richest Ijebu Real Estate player Demola Odutola will be there, so also Dr. Segun Oshin, Otunba Jimi Lawal will be there. He wants to be the next governor of Ogun. So also Senator Lekan Mustapha. He also wants to take over from Gov. Amosun
Both Otunba Adegboyega Adesoye and his wife Folasade will be there. Both of them are Otunbas. Whilst the husband is Otunba Gbaderogun, his wife is Yeye Otunba Gbaderogun.
Otunba Adesanya Yusuf, the Otunba Bobaseilu will be there. He is Giwa Egbe Bobagunte Okunrin. Otunba Adegboyega Alatishe will be there. He is the Otunba Badero. Otunba Akin Osiyemi will be there.
He is the Secretary, Council Of Otunbas Of Ijebuland. One big man to look out for also is Olorogun Dr. Sunny Kuku, the Olorogun of Ijebuland. Chief Bakare of the Oluwalogbon fame will be there. He is the Babalaje of Ijebuland. Chief Duro Onabule will be there.
He is the Jagunmolu of Ijebuland popular tree planter, Chief Bisi Rodipe, the Fesogboye will be there. Former Minister Dr. Bimbola Ogunkelu will be there. So also Chris Okunowo. They are both Chiefs, Chief Dr. Fassy Yusuf will be there. He is the Baagbimo of Ijebu.
Lagos Lawmaker, Hon. Adebayo Osinowo popularly called Pepper will be there. Chief Kessington Adebutu will also be there. He is the Baba Egbe of Egbe Bobagunte Obinrin(Gold) Akile Ijebu. Giwa Odutayo will be there. He is the President Ijebu Regberegbe Council.
Giwa Dhikrullah Bosun Oke will be there. He is the Giwa Egbe Bobayo. Giwa Engr. Oreagba will be there too. He belongs to Egbe Bobagbuyi (Okunrin) comprising those born between 1st January 1941 and 31st December 1943. Giwa Ope Surakat will be there. He is the Giwa of Egbe Obaleke. There is also Giwa Wale Alli-Oke. He is the Giwa Egbe Bobajolu. There is also Giwa Supo Mosuro. He is Giwa Egbe Obafuwaji. Hon. Ladi Adebutu of the House of Reps will also be there. He is the Agba Akin of Egbe Gbobaniyi Okunrin Akile Ijebu. He is also the Baba Egbe Boba Mayegun Obinrin Akile Ijebu. How about Sir K, Otunba Kayode Otujale? He will be there. Chief Lekan Bello is another big boy to watch out for. It promises to be a gathering of Big Boys.
