And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge , God gave them over to a reprobate mind , to do those things which are not convenient .
Next time you are faced with the defensive mode justifying homosexuality or lesbianism , it will be wise to consider this Scripture, Romans chapter 1/ 28. God instructively has a standard for us where sex is concerned, our choices emanating from willful designs is what God can not work with incidently he giving up the stubborn over to desirous idols and lust . As one writer puts it in the Bible commentary, these wrong choices are awakened when men instead of looking to God see themselves as the centre of the universe .. Which provokes and inspires the creation of images and gods based on selfish interests .
The idea of having something or a person that you can not do without or a priority greater than God releases the downward spiral into sin . The repercussion is a fallen state that invites various sins such as wickedness , greed , murder, gossip , envy, maligning , malicious behaviour and pride. At some point God after much patience permits the experience that accompany the natural consequences of sin . When people worship the creation rather than the creator they lose sight of their own identity as those who are higher than animals , made in the image of God . Basically becoming slaves to our own rebellion , which transalates to the worst slavery , the eventuality will then be demeaning enslavement to these sins .
There is no wavering on this , instintively Gods plan for sexual relationship is the ideal for his creation . Sin distorts the natural use of Gods gifts . These sins fundamentally not denying God but humanity denying the way we have been made . Sex is such a powerful and essential part of our humanity . Bible constantly gives these aspect attention showing us the need for self control and careful restraint these we learn through Samsons weaknesses and Solomons untrollable lusts amidst others . At no point did God permit us to fufill our desires outside of him , any of such desires that violates his laws must be controlled. God gives us much grace through our Lord Jesus, to resist the devil and to abstain . When we realise the strongholds we are to keep the right company as instructed in Psalm 1, avoid certain places and activities so as not to fall into sins that easily beset us . The Christian rather than rebel must seek help from professionals and from Christian counsellors .
The reason a man like President Trump will always earn respect in Christian circles and even amongst the greater polity is this . Whilst many overlook, tolerate and modify their stance on homosexuality , he loudly and clearly shuns these vices .
The fact that God is patient does not constitute approval and we must be Gods voices on earth . Christians must speak up and not adjust and cause others to stumble . God will visit these sins with his wrath and the one who looks away will bear the brunt . Every human being has the consciousness of God which infers that we are aware when we fall into error .
To continue to rebell is destructive and that is why we need the preacher, good leaders and missionary to constantly stimulate Gods goodness in us through the word . By our choices we can short circuit the enormity of Gods plan for greatness in our lives or choose the things of God which promises everlasting blessings . Definitely we are not our own we must therefore tranform by the renewal of our minds which brings with it, eternal benefits to all mankind.
