The Aigoro family is a very popular family in Lagos Island. It’s a family that has built its reputation over the century. They are not pushovers when it comes to talking about prominent and highly respected families on the Island.

The great grandfather of the Aigoros is Jubirila Aigoro who is a descendant of the Onisemo Agalaji of Lagos, a prominent chief in Lagos. The Aigoros have grown in leaps and bounds with their family house at Dosunmu Street, Ebute Ero, Lagos Island. They also have a house along Breadfruit Street, Balogun, also on Lagos Island.

Till date, the Aigoros still remain prominent and very relevant in Lagos State. They have many of their sons and daughters doing well and holding top positions. Prominent members of the family are Alhaji(Hon) Musiliu Alade Aigoro Commissioner, Lagos State Audit Service Commission and Alhaji Ismaila Aigoro, Lagos NURTW chieftain among many others.

Two Sundays ago, precisely 3rd December, 2023 the Aigoros showed their might when they shut down the premises of the Tafawa Balewa Square to celebrate their matriarch, Alhaja Bilahu Aduke Aigoro who passed unto glory in October, 2023 at the age of 96.

The after-burial party was a remarkable success and talk of town in Lagos Island. It recorded a massive attendance of the who is who in the Nigerian political and social scenes. Many of them stormed the reception party as a way of showing support to the Aigoro family.

Notable among long list of special dignitaries who attended the Chief of Staff to Governor Sanwo-Olu, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, Mrs. Opeyemi Akindele, SSA to the Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly on Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation; Senator Tokunbo Abiru sent someone to represent him; the Are Ona Kankanfo, Otunba Ganiyu Adams and his Osi; Chief Gani Kayode Balogun Hon. Segun Agbaje; Hon. Saheed Ibikunle- Member SUBEB Board;  the Asogbon of Lagos and his beautiful Olori; popular socialite, Wale Saubana; Barr. Doyin Banjo; Asipa of Itele; Chief Mrs. Bayo Balogun; Otunba Akinduro Ibesanmi; Hon. Abiodun Aigbe, Mr. Ajayi Adisa, Vice Chairman Ikosi/Isheri; Prince Ade Adesanya; Hon. Oladele Ajayi; Chief Mrs. Victoria Perrygrino; Dr. Niyi Adeleye; Chief Dr. Olusegun Dave Oladoyin; Mr. Adesuyi Onikoyi; Mrs. Folake Murtala; Mr. Rotimi Adeboye.

The event of the day was highly glamorous as the hosts did well in employing the best hands in every aspect of the events planning and implementation. The venue was well decorated and set hours before the arrival of guests. It was done in a way that every guest present was made to feel at home throughout the duration of the party.

The party was anchored by the wave making Prince Ladega who did well in hosting the party and making the hosts and their respective guests feel at home, having a fulfilled moment. Opening the floor to entertain the audience was the Veteran Akewi, Ayo Ewebiyi popularly known as Mama Akewi. She has indeed stepped up her stage craft. She did remarkably well by entertaining the massive crowd while she sang the eulogy of the deceased after which she sang-praised her surviving children for giving their mother a befitting burial.

Dazzling on the stage was the fuji music band of Kolade Onanuga. The singer had a great show as he sang for hours to entertain the Aigoros and their guests who came to cheer them on while dancing.  It was celebration night for all.

The Aigoro family is very prominent in Lagos Island. Their family house is located on a highbrow area called Dosunmu Street in Lagos Island. The occasion was attended by friends, distinguished guests, well-wishers, social, professional and political associates such as members of the All Progressives Congress and a high-powered team of the Lagos State branch of NURTW led by MC Oluomo.

Stealing the show at the occasion were members of the Gbobaniyi Ladies of Oniba Ekun Town. They had a massive attendance and lit up the party as they came around to rally round Alhaja Folashade Asuramu, wife of Alhaji Ismail Aigoro to celebrate life well spent by her late mother-in-law.
