If there’s a place in the outskirt of Lagos, where real estate investors are scrambling to invest, it’s Simawa, a remote town, Ogun State. Simawa is opposite the new auditorium of Redeemed Christian Church of God. It’s just 2 minutes drive from the auditorium.
Let’s tell you more about this town, Simawa. The paramount ruler of this community, His Royal Highness, Oba Gbenga Gbadebo Sonuga has been on the throne for over 13 years. The community of about 10,000 population, known for its farm produce of cocoa and kolanuts, has attracted trade and settlers such as Hausa and Igbo and others, who still have a strong presence in Simawa. Let’s also tell you that the new road which links Simawa to Lagos-Ibadan Expressway was constructed by RCCG and that has been the catalyst to the fast-paced development of Simawa we witness today. Not only that, the new Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is another catalyst that will finally open up the axis when completed.
A lot of people would be wondering why more and more people are going to Simawa to buy land, either to buy and keep or build houses on it immediately. We can confirm to you that, Simawa is another big city in the making, with the newly opened RCCG auditorium, which is one of the biggest in West Africa.
It’s expected that accomodation would be the major need of worshippers that will be coming to the place, and Simawa is the town believed to have the capacity to accomodate this people.
The new auditorium facility of RCCG can accomodate more than a million worshippers at a time. The auditorium which was opened by the General Overseer of the Church, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, was built at a cost of $60 million dollar (about 7.7 billion naira).
The new auditorium, which is floored with marble is sited on a vast land within the Redemption Camp, venue of the 10th Holy Ghose Congress of the Church.
The auditorium is built with steel and cement fibres.
According to source, the vision for the new auditorium started immediately after the 1998 Holy Ghost Congress, held in Lekki, when Pastor Adeboye realised the need for a more spacious auditorium to accommodate the millions of worshippers who thronged the venue for the programme.
This auditorium is built by a Chinese firm.
The number of real estate developers in Simawa has doubled and presently more and more of them are still scrambling to get, atleast a piece of the place. The land in Simawa town is gradually turning to ‘gold’ as developers now buy them in bulk and keep, till it appreciates. Presently, a plot of land in Simawa goes as high as 4-6 millions naira depending on the location.
One of the big real estate firms that has positioned itself in that axis for many years is Adron Homes & Properties. The company has about 7 different estates dominating the town, all located on the major road running through the town. One of the estates is called Treasure Park & Gardens Phase 2. It’s a one-of-its-kind estate designed for comfort, recreation, business and wholesome family life. It follows the theme of the Phase 1 Estate in terms of serenity, ambience and tranquility. Land sells as high as 5 million in this housing estate.
