For some days now, the social media space has been awash with the Baba Ijesha rape story. It’s the number one topic on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
And a lot of people have written, commented, and taken sides on the story.
On Wednesday 6th May 2021, City People Magazine team, led by the Editor, Wale Lawal, visited the popular actor, Yomi Fabiyi, in his Ikorodu home and he spoke to us at length about his position on the current issue and why he called for an equal hearing on the matter.
One of the issues he spoke about is how some people misjudged him in his position. He spoke about his fight with his colleague in the sector, Iyabo Ojo. He also told us some of the things Baba Ijesha told him when he visited him at Panti Police station.
According to him, “I can never support what Baba Ijesha did but I have a moral right to give him the support that would not compromise my stand and principles which I stand for. I’m not in support of rape, child molestation etc. I have dedicated my life for the cause of humanity”.
He also spoke about Iyabo Ojo. “I know Iyabo Ojo as a very calm, kind person before that event. I was so shocked when she came to attack me”. More details shortly..
