Last week, 2 foremost political groups in Ogun State belonging to Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, The Believe Movement announced publicly at the ceremony held for the new members at Ake Palace Ground area of Abeokuta, that they have dumped the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the All Progressives Congress (APC)
Before then, a closed-door meeting was held which had notable politicians in attendance including Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, former State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Elder Joju Fadairo, Asiwaju Anthony Ojesina, Olootu Dipo Sofowora, Balogun Nurudeen Olaleye as well as Chief Mrs. Mary Ogunjobi.
Recall that the 3-time gubernatorial candidates, last week led some leaders of his political group to meet with the governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun to discuss modalities for collaboration.
According to the group, a partnership between the duo of Isiaka and Abiodun would contribute significantly to the growth and development of the State. It lauded the steady but progressive strides of the current administration in the State especially in the areas of human capital development, being education and health, noting that Abiodun’s values in governance align with that of its symbol, Isiaka.
The communique reads in part “members are comfortable and confident in the leadership style of GNI and have resolved to follow his footsteps and directions politically; having demonstrated capacity, love, good-faith and sincerity to his followers and the general public at large.”
TBM stakeholders have taken cognizance of the hands of fellowship extended to our Symbol, GNI by the Governor of Ogun State, HE Prince Dapo Abiodun (MFR) which has been expressed via many private/open consultations and several other friendly gestures; to note. Ogun State APC, according to the governor will not accept any defector who refused to rejoin the party at the ward level.
The other party that defected massively to APC was the Otunba Gbenga Daniel political family which was led by the former Deputy Governor Salmon Badru, Chief Iyabo Apampa, Chief Waliu Taiwo, a former house of reps member, Dave Salako, Honourable John Obafemi and Dipo Sofowora.
From the Believe Movement is the former governorship candidate of ADC, Prince Gboyega Isiaka, Chief Pegba Otemolu, doctor Kunle Salako, Alhaji Aliu Ajibode and Elder Joju Fadairo.
Elder Joju Fadairo is one of the founding members of the Peoples Democratic Party, and he is also a member of the party’s National Executive Committee. A one-time chairman of the party in Ogun State, Fadairo is not happy with the roles being played by Ogun-born Senator Buruji Kashamu in PDP, one of the many reasons he dumped PDP for APC.
Front line politician of Ogun extraction, Deaconess Iyabo Apampa an amiable woman is in high spirits. A Yewa indigene, Apampa is a former Chairman of the Odua Group of Companies.
A woman of many parts, she is also a former chairman, Ogun-Osun River Basin Commission and former Commissioner for Education in Ogun State. Deaconess Apampa later served as a former director, Great Nigeria Insurance and also serves as a member, Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party.
As a Yewa indigene, she is a strong advocate of a Yewa candidate for governor in Ogun State. Apostle Dave Salako was a two-term member of the House of Representatives and he was also a strong member of APC.
Hon Deko Onamisi was also a strong member of PDP and a former member of the House of Representatives. Olugbenga Edward Ayo-Odugbesan is a Barrister at law, the President of Edwards group chambers in Nigeria. Former deputy speaker Ogun House of Assembly, he is a native of Ogun state and a devoted member of Egbe Bobagunte Akile Ijebu. He was a strong member of PDP and a former deputy speaker of the Ogun House of Assembly. Honorable John Obafemi was a member of PDP and a one-time member of the Ogun House of Assembly.
Former commissioner For Agriculture during Otunba Gbenga Daniel’s administration, Dr Salako was a member of PDP.
Alhaji Aliu Ajibode, former Commissioner for Forestry was also a strong PDP member. Otunba Kola Akinyemi was a PDP leader, while Olootu Dipo Sofowora was in ADC. Olusegun Awonusi, a professor of English and former Vice-Chancellor of the Tai Solarin University of Education, a former Commissioner for Education was a PDP member.
