When last did you visit Redeem Christian Church of God Camp on Lagos/Ibadan expressway? Did you even know that thousands of people are currently live inside the camp? Did you know that the camp is bigger than most towns in Nigeria?

Do you even know that the new church auditorium is the biggest in Africa and it has 12 million capacity?

The Redemption Camp has developed into a city of its own with over 5,000 projects that consists of police station, a post office, houses, banks, waste collectors, roads, supermarket, hospital, a fun fair, schools, a power plant, printing press, University, Redeemed Bible College. As at 2018, there was a population of 12,000 people living in the Redemption Camp.

The big news now is that more and more people are moving to the camp to live. City People findings reveal the many reasons why Redemption camp has become an attractive destination for many Nigerians. Below are some of the things we found out!

Tight Security: If you are going to Redemption camp and you have a baggage of related crimes, you better stay back. At the various entries to the camp, there are men in Uniform who will stop you for interrogation and proper check up, before you are allowed to gain access to the camp. They are so effective and combative in carrying out their duties. A few years ago, Bokoharam sects were apprehended at the camp as a result of their effective security. Almost on a daily basis, people are apprehended for one offense or another.

This is one of the reasons why a lot of people want to live on that corridor now, especially inside the camp. Now that the insecurity around the country has become a thing of concern, more and more people have been going there to live. Some are buying houses, while some are renting.

Another reason is proper upbringing of children: At Redemption camp, there are rules and regulations as to their dresses and looks in general. You can’t wear obscene clothings or any dress that will reveal parts of your private parts to the public. This act is totally banned at the camp. This is rampant now in our various communities. According to a resident of the camp, he told us that, indecent dressing among the children is one of the major reasons he had to move to the camp.

Another reason is constant light at Redemption camp: They have constant power supply and the power is generated right in the camp. There is a 10MW turbine that generates electricity. It is really a country on its own. Some of the residents told City People that most times they switched off their Refridgerator. They said the only time they take light is when the technicians are working on the light. Redemption Camp is one of the few places in Nigeria with constant electricity. And this is one general reason more and more people from around the world are moving to the camp to live almost on a daily basis. A few weeks back, City People found out that a Nigerian-UK based businessman sold one of his houses in Lagos to buy a house in Redemption camp.

What about the world class medical facilities in the camp? The Redeemer’s Health Centre is a top-notch facility providing primary and secondary health services such as General Medicine, Surgery, Scans, ECG, X-Ray, ICU, Dialysis OBS & Gynaecology, Immunization, Dental Service, and Family Planning.

They also have the Directorate of Public Health in RCCG and it is designed to combine appropriate arts and science technology in preventing diseases, prolonging life, promoting, and maintaining health and efficiencies in the Redemption City of God, among all RCCG members, and the community at large.

Objective of this : To make Redemption City of God one of the healthiest places to live on earth. 2. To promote and maintain the health of RCCG members wherever they may be and enhance RCCG’s Divine health policy. 3, To become an excellent broad-based reference institute that can detect and respond to any health threats and emergencies. 4. To train scholars in the art of Disease prevention and control.

What about the world class secondary and primary schools in the camp? They are also another attraction on their own.
