It’s no more news that one of Nollywood’s finest filmmakers, Kemi Adetiba tied the knot with her beau some days ago. She married her long time lover. Oscar Heman Akali. The couple had their wedding introduction and court wedding on April 22, 2022, and traditionally tied the knot on April 23, 2022, in a star-studded ceremony in Lagos, Nigeria.
The lavish ceremony came with the hashtag “Undeniably Yours 2022” with lots of stars in attendance such as Toke Makinwa, Toyin Abraham and hubby, Adesua Etomi and hubby, Ebuka Obi Uchendu and wife, Ini Dima Okojie, Zainab Balogun, Shaffy Bello, Uti Nwachukwu, Simi and Adekunle Gold, Akah Nnani Osas Ighodaro amongst many others.
The highly celebrated and respected filmmaker stunned in four different outfits for the wedding, representing 2 different cultures, and when asked the reason behind that, she revealed that her mother is from Ibeno in Akwa Ibom State while her dad is Yoruba.
The theme of the traditional wedding was “Celebrating Culture – Flamboyantly Nigerian and Ghanaian”.
Many were impressed with Sola Sobowale’s role at the star-studded wedding. Unknown to many, the veteran actress and filmmaker, Kemi Adetiba share a special relationship. Their relationship started from the very beginning of the making of the movie King Of Boys. According to Kemi Adetiba, the producer of King Of Boys “Sola Sobowale existed before the script existed a friend of mine mentioned won’t it be crazy if Sola Sobowale played as some do and I laughed like that is ridiculous and I was like wait and then I started having ideas and started putting things together and that is how it happened. King Of Boys was written around her”.
It’s been almost four years since the release of the first King Of Boys and the love between them keep waxing stronger. Their relationship has transcended beyond work to becoming a family. Kemi also explained further that she wanted to do something different.
She wanted to tell an authentic Nigerian story. According to her “working with Sola Sobowale on Wedding Party 1 and her intensity inspired a “what if…..? A scenario in my heart. When it comes to casting on any project I have had the privilege to work on, I try to follow my heart.
Many times as I am writing, I already have some people in mind and visualising them in the role aids, the writing process. I also stalk their Instagram pages and watch the movies to try and see them in different scenarios or as different characters.
Since the successful production of King Of Boys, their working relationship grew and the bond became stronger.
Their bond is so strong that the day Kemi Adetiba’s husband Oscar proposed to her, star actress, Sola Sobowale made a special appearance at the engagement that took place on the 28th of January in Ghana. Star actress, Sola Sobowale making it to Ghana for the special day, indeed made her day and couldn’t hide her feelings that she shed tears of joy seeing Sola Sobowale.
It is like stating the obvious when we say, Sola Sobowale started the entire wedding preparations with the couple. She also wowed many fans at the wedding ceremony proper, as she was seen with the bride althrough the ceremony.
She took charge of many things during the wedding and she received lots of praise from fans, for her roles at the wedding.
She was indeed the cynosure of all eyes as she played a motherly role cum maid of honour to the bride. Her genuine happiness and joy for the bride were unmatched so that she could pass for the bride’s biological mother.
She also ride and sat beside the bride as she was driven to the venue of the wedding. A role maid of honour plays at weddings. She didn’t stop at that. She won the hearts of many fans as she also made sure Kemi was okay, she helped her with her dress on several occasions and also prayed for her before the ceremony started.
Also, Sola Sobowale also created the real “Wedding Party” scenario as she led Kemi Adetiba and her hubby into the venue of their wedding specially. The love and joy she displayed at the wedding are second to known.
Even when different musicians came upstage to perform, most of them had to pay her special homage considering her special role at the wedding.
