To start with why are we not patriotic,secondly why so much corruption and Lastly why is every or most people concerned about self interest. The question I keep asking is why. When there are behavioural patterns one needs to look deeply to find out the cause and effect.
All we talk about is corruption but my plight really is how come the Love of many have waxed cold.In looking closely at the home front. Basically Charity begins at home we will agree.The question now, Is there charity in our homes. Sibling rivalry is an English phrase so it does exist in western cultures but the wickedness and evil is not so common with them.
Living in Nigeria and getting close to different families I observed what I have coined the all or nothing syndrome which means each individual in most cases wants it all,not ready to share and would kill for it. Wills and covenants have no bearing and siblings kill each other for property and positions. What a friend of mine described in Yoruba as Ogun/ Ogun and Ogun.
Translated it means Inheritance,enchantment and war. Which overtime has released warped personalities into the society who have lost their humanity in these battles. No sense of fairness or human kindness. The result churning out into society people with the mindset of inordinate ambition and fearce competition.
Who is to blame? This has a lot to do with parenting. Most parents do not Love unconditionally but incight the spirit of cane and Abel. Mothers beware we owe our children a balance and equal Love. Every child must have positive regard and must feel special and wanted or else we have damaged such a child denying such a perrson the ability to build up positive self esteem.
The lack of this equilibrium is killing our society and what we have is the hurting, dysfunctional and the warped in government positioned in different strata, taking up sensitive key jobs in the society. I therefore take this opportunity to appeal to Parents, Pastors, People in general there is need for reparations and repentance. We all need to change Nigeria. God will readily bless us as we ponder on these words and build a people fit for the masters vision for our nation building and establishment .
